Complaint #***In response to the customers last message:As in the customers email to us he said "I was under the impression we were not going to be billed for the generator annual service since we gave Churchville Electric the big job" I have enclosed a copy of that emailThe electrician did not say that our work would be at no cost We gave the customer a fair price for the service change considering the extensive work needed to be done and corrections done to the original serviceThe job was not "big" for usIt was questioned by the homeowner whether the panel needed to be changed. After consulting with the electrical inspector while on the job he confirmed that it was requiredThe generator was installed incorrectly with a amp transfer switch on a amp panel and incorrectly wired*** *** does not charge for a disconnect/reconnect and we do not charge the customer if they do it or we do itSo there is no credit to offer the customer because there is no charge either wayThis is only our 2nd customer complaint in over years in businessWe will take the $the customer owes us off our books and take the loss so that this can be resolvedWe could have charged the customer for the dent his child put in our truck while he was hitting golfballs in the yard but did not.We could have not done anything different in this situation as it was the customer that made an inaccurate assumption.Alan M***David M***Kyle M***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,
[redacted] When I spoke with Kyle M[redacted] about the bill on 7/3 after emailing and texting he did not deny the previous conversation about waiving the $135.  He only told me then that he could not wave it because they were "barley" making money on the job and only agreed to drop the cost of parts for the generator service and stated that was the best he could do (why would he offer to do that if he had not previously offered to wave the whole generator service).  After performing the generator service he did not provide me with a bill and did not include the generator service in the quote for the electrical upgrade.  Only after all of the work was done did he include the generator service in the bill for the larger job.  I believe Kyle either misunderstood the original conversation that he agreed to about waving the generator service or was overruled by his family that runs the company.  I feel that the company should have to abide by the agreement he made with me.  The only thing that I should have done differently at the beginning was ask for him to provide to me in writing that he was not going to charge for the generator service but didn't think that was necessary. I also have a question for him about when the electrical service upgrade work was being done when all three employees of Churchville Electric were looking at my electric panel when they just arrived and right before they started the work.  My wife overheard one person question the other two if we really needed or wanted a new electrical panel.  Someone else in the conversation said it was "part of the job".  I would like an explanation of this. Thanks

Reply to complaint [redacted]The customer contacted Churchville Electric asking for a price on performing an annual generator service and a new riser cable. It was determined after consulting with the electrical inspector that thc service needed to be replaced to bring it up to code. While...

the electricians were there they performed the generator service and told the customer that they would send a quote on the service change. The work on the generator was not billedat that time figuring that we would send 1 bill out for both jobs. There was never any mention of waving the cost of the generator service by either party. We feel that we gave the customer a fare price on the service. After receiving an email from the customer stating that he said that we told him that the generator service would be free because we were doing additional work there, we told him that we would wave the cost of thematerials on the generator service. He agreed to this and a revised bill was sent to him. We believe that we acted appropriately and feel that there was nothing we could do differently in this situation.Kyle M[redacted]
