Chute & Duct Reviews (2)

Review: Duct Technology (Chute & Duct LLC) cleaned the air ducts on June 28. Before they left, the system started making clanging and banging noises. I was told it would take an hour & stop. The next day, the noise continued, plus another loud noise. then the air stopped blowing. I called the company and left a message about the problems which I did not have before the air duct work was done. I left a message. No one called back. On Monday, I spoke with someone who said a technician could not come until Thursday. On Thursday, no one came and no one called. I am a senior citizen on disability and cannot tolerate the heat. I called an air conditioning repair company who came on Thursday afternoon. They found the banging and clanging ducts improperly hanging & repaired them. When they opened the unit, they found the directions which had been taped to the unit door and the insulation sucked into the blower. The insulation was removed and properly secured to the door. It was discovered that an opening behind the unit was covered with a panel by Duct Technology (They told me they did that!) which needed to remain open as part of the return for air. No air could enter the unit, so it stopped blowing. I called the credit card co. Thursday evening to stop payment, but I was too late. The credit card co. called the Duct Co. & someone called me back.

I was told a technician would come to my home at 9a.m. the next day to discuss the matter. Again, no one came & no one called! Their ad claims "Accredited by the Revdex.com with an A+ rating! Not true!Desired Settlement: I request reimbursement for the $500 I paid to correct damages caused by Duct Technology's inferior work & refusal to call me back or keep any appointments to examine the problems.

I also request a refund of $342 I paid the Air Duct Co. for their inferior work which caused all the problems, led to medical discomfort due to heat, and refusal to contact me despite several attempts.

Please note their false advertisement of Revdex.com accreditation with an A+ rating! Not true! Thank you.

Response:

On July 20th, 2014 we cleaned the Air Ducts for [redacted] at [redacted] While cleaning the ducts, we noticed a large hole in the return ducting in the basement. We showed it to [redacted] and we then proceeded to cover the hole with sheet metal at no extra charge. We also noticed that 3 of her damper controls (which regulates air flow) were loose. We also repaired it for her at no cost. Her duct work was not well maintained properly and needed repairs. When the job was completed, we turned on the system and everything worked well. [redacted] signed the job invoice upon completion of the job and gave us a credit card payment. [redacted] called us a few days afterwards complaining about a noise she was hearing. We told her that a technician will drop by the next day to take a look. She called again before we could send a technician out and said that she had an A/C company come out to fix the problem and it costed her $800. Her ducting needed repairs before we started the job in the first place. All I can say is that the A/C company ripped her off and put the blame on our company. We are a very reputable company for the past 15 years with absolutely no complaints.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

This is my response to the business's reply to my complaint. I originally typed my response the day I received the 888's e-mail, but I somehow erased it by accident. I immediately dialed [redacted] to explain. I was told to type it again and I did, however, when I finished and clicked "proceed," an error message appeared. I called again and was told to send my response in an e-mail and that the ten day restriction would be waived as I am a senior citizen and had so much trouble trying to send my response to the business's reply to my complaint. Thank you for understanding. I do not accept Duct Technology's (aka Chute & Duct, LLC) reply to my complaint because they made several serious errors in their statement.

Review: After chimney was cleaned on 2-1-2015, after a chimney fire on 12-31-2015. The chain and cable for the flute had not been connected.I called Duct Tech to inform them of this issue on 2-2-2015. I was told they would come 2-3-2015, never showed up or called me back. I was told they would come on 2-5-2015 again no show , no call. I was told they would come on 2-6-2015 again no show, no call. I need this fire place to help heat up the living room, which has a high ceiling. My wife has a stroke and was in the hospital in November for various reasons.Desired Settlement: Install my cable and chain for chimney flute which I found in a bag of chimney trash. Or I get some other company to install the parts and have Duct Technology refund me for my expenses.

Response:

[redacted] has never cleaned his chimney for a very long period of time which resulted in a chimney fire from a build up of creosote inside the chimney. The fire department was called in as a result of the chimney fire. The fire department broke the damper on top of the chimney cap which is connected with a long chain to open and close the damper. The fire also scorched the chain and the damper.
