Cicchini Asphalt Reviews (2)

I would not recommend them for your asphalt needs.
Short-version:
Poor communication. Poor ability to take ownership and responsibility of mistakes (sealer on driveway, sealer on garage, two spots that were sealed peeled off within first week and now old driveway is showing in those spots). Being fair - 90% of the sealing that was done “right” looks great. But the mistakes and the way the owner handled the problem will prevent me from ever recommending them or going back to them again Simply put – I doubt they would have taken a picture of my finished driveway to use in one of their sales brochures. They should strive so say “Yes” to that question each and every time. There is no way they would on mine – unless you want to advertise you splatter sealer on your customers garage and concrete patios.
Long version:
We hired them to reseal our asphalt driveway (residential) because they have been around for a long time and livening in Kenosha my whole life I went with them. We could have went with a friend who owns a competing business but decided not to – BIG MISTAKE. We received poor service from beginning to end.
It took two weeks from the time I returned the signed contract to even get a phone call that they were coming to do the job. I called twice and was told they received the contract but they were not in my area and when they were in my area they would call and setup an appointment. I told them to call at least one day in advance as I want to be there. Simple communication. They could have e-mailed me saying “We received your contract we will contact you in a few weeks when we are in your area” – Nope.
Of course, they call the day they want to come at 12pm noon asking if the driveway is clear – No – why would it be? So, I changed my plans that night to spend time clearing the driveway as I had quite a few things being stored near the driveway I wanted to move into the garage to make it easier for the crew and to protect those items in case they accidently got sealer on them.
After the crew left there was sealer and dirt splatter all over my garage. At first glance it looked like it was only sealer so I called to complain – like any home owner would. They also got sealer on my new concrete patio that ran next to part of the asphalt driveway. Did they ever hear of placing duct tape or some kind of tape down on the concrete that butts up to the asphalt or plastic on the garage? Simple, cheap resource..common sense. When the crew left they knew they made the mistakes. They could have easily called the office and had them call me and I would have understood. Nope.
It took two days to get a response and the owner finally came out. It turns out 75% of what I thought was sealer was dirt. The dirt came up when they power washed the driveway. The owner told me the driveway was VERY dirty. I was not aware it was and I would have power washed it myself if I knew it was a problem. He also had to make a point to tell me, and my wife, that our garage has rotted wood on it. What on earth that has to do with his businesses mistakes is beyond me. He said “I was talking outloud”. Never apologized for degrading my house – just said he should not have said it. Wow!
Overall - he never once apologized for the mistakes. He told me I could get a bucket of paint and a paint brush to paint over the sealer on the garage as the sealer will not come off. I told him the garage is 8 months old I would have to repaint the entire garage or you would see the new paint spots. He then told me I can get course sandpaper to sand off the sealer on the garage. I told him – no he can do that – his company made the mistake. He then wanted to give me a credit and have me do it myself. I could tell from the tone in his voice he was upset I was taking up his time for a measly residential seal job. I get it – but his company made the mistake not me.
He ended up ripping up the invoice and did not charge me a thing and said his crew would be out in a few days to sand the concrete. I would gladly pay someone $225 to do it RIGHT. The owner acted like he was doing me a favor by ripping up the invoice. All I wanted was proper communication from a professional business and do the job RIGHT!
He then called me back right away and asked “I do him a favor” and sand the concrete – as well as the garage – as he does not feel comfortable coming onto my property. It makes no sense. He never apologized or took full responsibility just kept saying he would credit us, offering tips on how WE can fix it, it was a joke.
Further, they never told me how long to wait to drive on it so I had to call them and they said 48 hours. I waited about 60 hours and since then two spots they sealed have already come up and you can see the old driveway. Terrible, terrible terrible.
I would never recommend them.

Cicchini Asphalt was hired to expand my company's parking lot in Kenosha. On 7/21/15 the lights for the parking lot came in, so myself and the electrician hauled the four 24ft light poles and a pallets of lights fixtures to the back of the building using the company forklift. we then began to place the poles and fixtures by the bases so the electrician to began to assemble them. On the second light, the electricians boss showed up and then another individual showed up in another car and got out and began to walk over to over to me. Below is how the conversation went.
Cicchini Asphalt- who told you, you can drive on the asphalt?
Me- excuse me
Cicchini Asphalt- who told you, you can drive on the asphalt with that forklift?
Me- I stated the electrician did because the light came in and they were going to be put up soon and the asphalt was down a week ago.
Cicchini Asphalt- You can drive that [redacted] forkilift on this asphalt and started to point out mark in the asphalt that our forklift could not have done..
The Cicchini Asphalt employee began talking to the electrician and began to raisehis voice and swearing at him because our electrician told him it had to probably be a bigger piece of equipment than our forklift to have done that and right away the employee believe we were pointing the fingers at someone else.
Me- calm down guy
Cicchini Asphalt- ignoring me and continue to yell at the electrician.
Me- calm the [redacted] down and began to get of the forklift.
Cicchini Asphalt- What are doing of that [redacted] forklift, get your [redacted] back on that forklift and shut up.
Me- excuse me, who are you
Cicchini Asphalt-shut up and I'm the owner of this asphalt.
Me- so you are telling me you own this parking lot that is on my company parking lot?
Cicchini Asphalt-You are going to shut up and get back on the forklift.
Me- I will make you a deal, I go ahead and pick up all the light poles and fixtures and put them on the old parking lot and your [redacted] can carry them over here by hand.
Cicchini Asphalt- you are going to shut up right now.
Me- Dude, you might want to go back to school and work on your people skills because you have none right now talking to us.
Me and the electrician began to finish the job we started. We never did the damage to the lot that we were accused of doing. The employee never said he was sorry after this confrontation because the grading company was there and even told him we did not do it. after all this happen, The employee of the company, he never did tell who he was or was not even wearing a shirt with the company name on it. I felt like my experience should be heard with this company being well know in Kenosha.
