Let me clarify a few things.  1) We did figure the repair would take the technician 4 hours.  The technician was able to complete the repair under the time expected which is reflected in the $150.00 refunded.  2)  You may want to call Trane and be more specific in what you are asking.  We are not charged freight within the first year.  Once that piece of equipment is out of that warranty timeframe, freight is charged on any warranty parts.  In your case we paid freight four times as you placed the order, cancelled, then placed the order again.  3) The person you spoke to at Trane is a CSR.  They have no idea what it costs to run a service business and therefore are not a qualified person to ask regarding repair charge. 4)  We have no less than two hours of office work to handle the ordering of your parts, warranty paperwork, shipping arrangements, etc.  That brings the total hours invested into your job to 5.  At the $740.00 we charged you that equates to $148.00/hr.  You may not believe it but we are actually losing money at that rate.  Many people have no idea what it takes to run a high quality service business.  We carry all the required insurances (most a/c businesses do not), have an actual location (most a/c businesses do not), have a real person answering the phone 24 hours a day (most a/c businesses have a voicemail), offer our employees the benefits they deserve (most a/c businesses do not), and pay our employees a good wage which they certainly deserve being they work all hours in the hottest place in the entire country.  We would welcome you to come to our office, sit down with our Owner, and go through a short exercise that shows exactly what our cost is per hour to run an air conditioning business.  This business has been around for the last 27 years.  We didn’t do that by accident.  Just a little fact:  90% of all a/c businesses are out of business within 5 years.  Please let me know when you’d like to come by and I’ll make arrangements for it.
