Circle K Stores, Inc. Reviews (6)

Circle K is not aware of the rules governing liquor sales in the state of Arizona. Not only are they ignorant of the law of their state, their associates are also apparently ignorant of standard customer service practices. A temporary credential issued by the MVD is absolutely an acceptable form of identification for liquor sales. I verified before entering their store to purchase and 2 additional times since the incident. Not only are their associates ignorant of the law, they are completely 100% rude. If you speak to a manager, it won't get any better. The manager I spoke to at XXX-XXX-XXXX, [redacted] (male), informed me that telling a customer he "won't accept that" as a form of ID, turning his back on him and saying "have a great day" while the customer attempts to produce more identification is the associate "just doing his job." I totally understand having to do ones job, as I have definitely been on the other end of the counter in this exchange. I also understand being cautious and complying with the law. Unfortunately, being rude is not part of a cashier's job description.

Not only that, but I have contacted the compliance department 3 separate times at the Arizona Department of Liquor (you can call them yourself at XXX-XXX-XXXX) and they have instructed me that the Temporary Credential is absolutely an acceptable form of identification. Additionally, you can simply pull up the website where they have compiled a handy pdf to determine what IDs are acceptable. Lo and behold, there is the temporary credential right on that pdf. http://www.azliquor.gov/forms/inv_accept_ID.pdf

The response has been nothing short of appalling on this matter. As someone who has worked for years in customer service, I cannot believe that Circle K makes a practice of hiring people who have absolutely no business interacting with customer at any level. I will never stop at any store in your chain again.

.RE: Case if [redacted]:  [redacted]

This letter is being sent in response  to a  recent complaint  filed...

concerning contaminated

Fuel that was said to have been purchased at our Circle K store #[redacted], located at

, Phoenix Arizona on 12/10/2013.

Our investigation into this complaint indicated that there was no negligence on the part of Circle K and or its employees.  In response to the claim comprehensive investigation techniques were used  to investigate the incident. The fuel tanks were manually inspected and gauged by store  personnel and found to be free of water.  Then electronic gauging  records were reviewed for 12/9/2013-12/11/2013 and again no evidence of any contaminants was found in any of the fuels.  Lastly, the sales figures for all the fuels were reviewed for the day of the purchase. On 12/10/2013 store #[redacted] sold in excess of 2800 gallons of fuel with no other reports of contaminated fuel from any other customers.

It was our position that the mechanical failures incurred by the claimant were not the result of the fuel purchase at Circle K lt is for these reasons Circle K denied the claim.

Circle K communicated the status of our investigation  verbally to claimant on 12/23/2013 and explained the reasons for our denial of his claim, And although we appreciate the opportunity to review this matter for the second ti.me, based on the facts of the initial investigation of the claim, Circle K does not wish to reconsider our denial of the claim.

Sincerely

Circle K reference #[redacted]

In response to Mr. [redacted]'s complaint regarding contaminated fuel, Circle K Stores has been provided no evidence by the consumer that tainted fuel was obtained from our site on the date in question.  In addition, we have been provided no lab results or proof of chain of custody for any such evidence.  Furthermore, it is our experience that many repair facilities are quick to find fuel to be the culprit when in actuality the fuel filter may have been due for changing, the consumer may have run the vehicle's fuel too low which brings contaminants already in the tank to the surface or any other number of unrelated fuel issues.

As a goodwill gesture, we are willing to give Mr. [redacted] a $20 gift card for future purchases but unfortunately we will be unable to accept any liability for any repairs made to his vehicle.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to review this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

This is completely unacceptable. I drove less that 3 miles after filling up and had a water in fuel indicator come on and my truck stopped running. the fact I put 41 gallons in my truck is an indicator that any previous fuel or possible contamination could not have happened. I have a mechanics report stating water in the fuel was the cause of damage. The truck was towed directly to the shop when it stopped running.  I will fwd a copy to the Revdex.com. Circle K has a history with the state inspection commission of several contaminated fuel violation in the past. the fact that they are self testing the fuel is a bit suspicious to me.
