I hired this company for a very extensive and complete redo of my entire property's landscape, including retaining walls, hardscape, stone walls, a custom fountain, drainage, irrigation, landscape lighting, and all plant material and trees. The owner/licensed landscape contractor gave me a bid and told me my project would take 10-12 weeks. We entered into a verbal agreement and within a week the work began. In the early stages of the work, all seemed to be going as promised with workers there everyday. After a month or so there were days, or even a week or more, when none of the workers showed up with no reason or any communication as to why by the owner, Ciro Delgadillo.
The workers he employs were very pleasant, hard workers who did good work, but he began not following through as we had agreed and the project dragged on, with promises to be done by an ever-changing. After five months had passed, Mr. Delgadillo did not even complete the last few remaining parts of my job, all of which were key components to the successful completion. As a result, I did not pay him for these uncompleted items. He then began invoicing me for a substantially larger amount than what I actually did owe, had he even completed the full job. I had already almost fully paid him, except for 5% of the full project bid.
I told him I would pay the actual small balance I did owe if he returned to finish what was remaining, which he never did. When I did not pay him, two of his suppliers sent me notices that they had not been fully paid by Mr. Delgadillo and were going to be filing liens on my property. I had to pay these two suppliers to prevent the lien process and wrote Mr. Delgadillo an email telling him how unhappy I was about this and to come complete the remaining items, which I listed. I said that I would pay him the original balance, minus the monies I had to pay his two unpaid suppliers if he came right away and finished. I also told him that I would not pay the extra amount he had added on for "extra work", which was something he never discussed with me. He never returned and months later my job has not been completed.
