They were very helpful during the COVID-19 catastrophe. I lost my job, they skipped a few payments until I got back on my feet
Just like many others, I was laid off due to COVID-19. Fortunately enough, I was able to join into Citizen's program before the virus hit. If I hadn't done so, I definitely would not have been able to fare as well as I have these last few months. Cheers!

I was skeptical at first! But after working with one of their associates (Eli) he really helped reassure me that I was in the right hands. I am close to graduating their program and cannot be any happier to leave my debt in the past. Cheeers!
I did not have a positive experience with Citizens. Gary was very nice and reassuring that there was very little risk involved and I could dis-enroll in the program at any time and get my money and any unearned fees back. Please be wary about the ‘fees’. I asked very early on why 1/4 of every withdrawal was being deemed a ‘fee’ in my RAM account and Gary assured me that it was just so Citizens would be able to draw their earned 25% after each account was settled, but it didn’t mean that they were able to keep any additional unearned fee amounts if I decided to cancel the program. While Gary continued to attest that this was accurate up until as recently as last week, he has now stopped returning my calls and emails. His last response to my request for over $900 in unearned fees was ‘No problem, let me just talk to my Manager’. Mind you I have been enrolled since February and my credit is now irreparably damaged, Citizens settled ONE account at 50% that they kept an additional fee of 25% for and I will have to pay taxes of the 50% written off - also, as a cherry on top that one card doesn’t even acknowledge that the settlement payments were received, so I have to file paperwork to try to prove it since it still shows as unpaid on my credit reports. Oh, and with the unreturned fees the amount I will be out is MORE THAN ONE THE BALANCE SETTLED.
Be aware that even with the extra regulations the government has tried to place on debt settlement companies it seems they are still willing and able to take advantage of consumers. I left many voicemails and sent several emails before posting this, in hopes that maybe I was mistaken about how they operate. However, it seems that I have just learned a very expensive lesson followed by several ‘I told you so’s’ from my husband. Hopefully my $900+ mistake will help save someone else from the same or worse.

It is with deep regret that *** cancelled her debt resolution program. In regards to fees, we are entitled to 25% of the enrolled debt amount which is applied to any settlements obtained by CDR. CDR obtained 2 settlements one with Citi and one with Navient totaling $12,578 of debt settled. Regrettably *** cancelled her program as payments were set to be dispersed to Navient. *** is responsible for making payments to her creditors as CDR assumes no liability for debt as stated in the consumer agreement that *** signed. The total fees to be collected on the 2 settlements as per the terms of the consumer agreement total at $3,144.50. *** made 7 payments towards her program. A portion of her monthly payment was applied towards service fees for the 2 settlements rendered totaling $2,166.78. This means that *** technically owes CDR $977.72 in fees outstanding however, given the client's financial hardship we have waived that amount in good faith. We now consider this matter closed and resolved and wish *** the best of luck. For your convenience, we have attached the settlement letter for Navient. This is untrue. I settled the debt with Navient directly and all funds are set to be debited from my personal account. I advised Gary that I wanted to settle this account directly and he confirmed that to be an option. All payments are setup through my personal bank account and payments were never handled or issued by Citizens.

I almost never write reviews for companies, but Citizens has been so great that I felt like I owed them one. I Spoke with Gary about six months ago to sign up for their services. He was very patient and answered all 100 of the questions that I had regarding this option. I was mostly concerned with getting my credit score back on track and he assured me that there would be no long term effect. I trusted my gut and signed up. 6 months later and my credit has almost fully recovered, but most importantly Citizens is taking care of my debts just like they said they would. I feel like I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I would highly recommend their services.
