Review: Dear Revdex.com,We recently acquired a house and hired a general contractor (City Commercial Solutions) to help with the renovation. The initial proposal for the work was priced at 33.500 USD. We wanted to make sure that all the material was up to our quality standards (including Window and kitchen work) and so we proposed to pay 20 % more than originally estimated: 40K. The contract included a time frame of one month work, while we would be out of the house.At this point it the work in the kitchen and the windows are not done to our satisfaction and we have to hire another contractor to fix it. The kitchen counter top was broken (granite) and glued together tilting the counter top about an inch (so the surface is not level). This is not what we paid for and expect it to be redone properly or getting a refund for the poor quality of work and the ensuing decrease in value of the kitchen and house (3K countertop plus work= 5K).The windows were inserted, yet the outside of the windows is poorly set up (*5). The facade is not only aesthetically but also functionally sub par, again not meeting our expectation and decreasing the value of the house. Hiring another contractor to do it right will be necessary.(Additional costs 2K)In addition, the work took twice as long as agreed. This lead to several non-monetizable and monetizable opportunity costs:non-monetizable: we could not live in our house since work was going on. We had to live out of boxes in the basement and were confined to the upper level rooms.monetizable: The fact that we could not live there increased our need for childcare (3 children per day 120 USD * 15 days). The kitchen was not ready for us to cook so we incurred additional costs for outside food delivery (20 days * 80 USD). I, myself, could not work from home (professor) and had to be there to provide guidance. My billable hour ranges from 400USD - 1200USD)(20 days * 8 hours). (25K)We paid 75% = 30000 USD and are happy to settle for a reduced price.Desired Settlement: We are happy to accept a price reduction for the job from 40K to 35K, which we believe is generous and fair.
