Review: On March **, 2013 I met with [redacted] of [redacted] at [redacted]. to view an apartment on [redacted]. After viewing the apartment [redacted] explained that there was a $50. 00 Cash fee charge for viewing the of the property and one months deposit of $1250 to hold. I asked [redacted] if there would be a problem receiving my funds back if we are unable to work together. [redacted] explained that I wouldn't get the 50.00 back but I would get the 1250 ones month deposit back. I trusted her as a decent young lady and business woman and gave her two money orders for 625.00 each. We were unable to complete the process I asked for my refund she stated that I have to write a written request to there refund department and then I would get my funds back in two weeks March **,2013 I sent the request in via email as told.. Two weeks came I got an email stating that The refund is not available and they will contact me when it would be March **, 2013. March **, 2013 came and I didn't here from [redacted] or her partner [redacted]. After several calls and emails. I was given another date which was April **, 2013. On that date 4/**/2013 [redacted] called and left a message stating that they don't have my funds and they don't know when they will.!!!!Desired Settlement: I want a full refund 1300.00 .I have a daughter going to College ALL MONEY IS NEED. I work hard and a single parent, these people are THIEVES. Thanks

Review: A deposti of $1600 was given for an apartment, [redacted] I was denied this application and on February [redacted]requested the deposit be retuned. The response from the agent via email was: "Your request has been received and we will begin to process it. We will provide you with a pick up date within 7 to 14 business days."

This is the last communication from this company with regards to the return of my deposit. I have emailed 3 times and called the contact agent [redacted](###-###-####) over 10 times and left messages. I have not had any response. There is also no response to the main company number.Desired Settlement: I would like to have the deposit of $1600 returned, as indicated in the email from the company on 2.**.14

Review: I called early Sunday December [redacted] to view an apartment listed on [redacted]. Realtor actually picks up and we schedule 3 viewings.

First viewing didn't go well, the apartment is locked and there is no super available.

Second viewing the super refuses to show the apartment because it is too late in the evening (around 8:30PM)

Third viewing we see a beautiful apartment which I then pick and choose to apply for. We go back to the office. I put down one month's rent as deposit and the $100 application fee. I was missing 2 or so documents so I had to send the docs to them in the morning. Before I could even send the documents I get a call in the late morning from [redacted]. I call them back to find out that the apartment that I had applied for which they told me was available, actually wasn't available. I found this strange because the realtor had told me that it was a brand new listing. Very suspect. They didn't even do an app or pull my credit so NO BILLABLE SERVICE WAS RENDERED. I called to speak to someone about getting my money back immediately but they said that they wouldn't be able to return it for 7 days per their application agreement. I sent an e-mail to the e-mail alias per their request and they didn't even acknowledge receipt of the e-mail to this day. While this is not acceptable, I still waited the 7 days. It is now in March (over 3 months later) and [redacted] is still holding my money and has not returned it to me. They almost never pick up the phone in the office and they don't keep their word. I have received very poor customer service and a lack of professionalism from [redacted] apartments. I went in to speak with someone after the 7 business days passed and the [redacted] wouldn't even show ANY compassion or take [redacted]ship and responsibility. His name was [redacted] and when I had called the night before, he said that he would take care of it. When I showed up at [redacted] he told me that "that's just how it is." He claimed that the [redacted] was out of town on vacation and that the [redacted] is the only one with access to the funds to give me a refund. He said I would have to wait until the beginning of January to get my money back.Desired Settlement: I paid $1,400.00 in cash for my security deposit and a $100.00 so I want all my money back.

Review: Hello,

on June [redacted] I saw an apartment with an agent from [redacted], I liked it so I decided to apply for it and went to the office to fill out the paper work. They convinced me to put down a deposit of $1000 which I paid for with a money order. They issued me a contract that also served as a receipt that stated that if I was not approved for the apartment that I would be refunded my money within 5 business days. Once they received my application, I was told by [redacted], that she would email me an application for my co-signer that night in order to complete the application and get it submitted by monday (it was friday night). After she did not send the application I could not get a hold of her, I called and emailed her for the next 2 weeks and got and email from an empoyee saying that I will get my refund back that following friday and they they will tell me when. I kept checking up and I could not get in contact with her, her associates kept telling me that she was the one and only person who could give me my money back and that they will continue to let her know that I have been contacting her. This past friday she called me and said that someone bounced some checks and that the company account was frozen and that she could get me my refund thursday (today). I told her to please give me a call wednesday to confirm with me and to tell me what time I can go to their office and get my check, she agreeed and I also asked for her personal email since I could not contact her. she did not call me and I could still not get in contact with her, she just emailed me and simply said "You will be refunded. We will let you know when you can pick it up. I'm the meantime, we can help you find an apartment.".

I want my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like my refund to be issued to me in the next week other wise I will be forced to take her to court for stealing my money and breaking our contract.

her email is [redacted] and number is

Review: I was looking for aparments and I answered an ad on [redacted] for an apartment I called the number given went looked at the apartment liked it and left a deposit on it. then I was denied for the apartment now I have called and emailed a number of times and I keep getting a run around from themDesired Settlement: I just want my money back

Review: February **, 2014

Dear Sir/Madam:

On December **, 2013, I acquired services from Alotta Apartments to assist my wife and myself in finding an apartment. On this very day, I submitted my application, my personal information, my guarantor's personal information, and two money orders made out to the owner of the company, [redacted]. The total amount submitted as a down payment toward our new apartment was, $1450. One money order from Chase bank, for $1000 (money order #[redacted]), and the second money order for $450 (money order #[redacted]). I was informed that $100 of that deposit was non-refundable, as it would be used to run my credit check. It was made clear to me both verbally and in writing that if Alotta Apartments was not able to provide the services agreed upon (finding us an apartment), our "good faith deposit" would be immediately refunded. All we needed to do was to submit our request in writing to, [redacted].

On January [redacted], 2014, we sent Alotta Apartments our official refund request. They responded the next day, stating that our request was received, and they will begin the refund process. Three weeks went by without a word from them. On February [redacted], 2014, I sent them another email, after numerous attempts to speak with someone in the office via telephone. My email was of the same nature, "where is my refund?" They responded on February [redacted], 2014, stating that they were setting up a date for me to pick up my refund within a week. It is now thirteen days later.

I have called the office a number of times for an update on my refund. No one ever answers the phone. I have been to the office on three occasions to get my money back, but every time I speak to them they give me the run around. I did some research on the business recently, and found an overwhelming amount of negative reviews on this company. It is now my understanding that this is typical behavior on their part. There are an incredibly increasing number of consumers, who have been ripped off by Alotta Apartments. Why then, is my question, are these people still allowed to practice business? Why hasn't their Real Estate Licenses been revoked? This is absolutely not acceptable, that a company can take people's hard earned money and keep it, without providing the goods or services they promise. Simply put this is boldfaced THEFT!

Both my wife and I are not rich. Far from it, in fact. We work very hard for the life we have. We are newly weds desperately trying to begin our lives on a financially steady pace. We realize that nothing in life is free. Hence, the reason we a just livid with the behavior of Alotta Apartment. We need that money. It has already set us back on so many levels.

To the person reading this complaint, we are in dire need of our funds. We sincerely, and respectfully ask that you give this matter your full attention. Alotta Apartments cannot keep doing this to people. They need to be stopped.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Alotta Apartments need to refund our deposit. The total amount due is $1350.00

Review: On the [redacted]of December at 6:45 pm,my husband and I made a down payment of $1900 for an apartment located at [redacted]. The agent named Sasha lied about getting a reduction on the rent and we decided not to take the apartment. The closing coordinator, KC, told us that the Landlord wouldn't have reduced the rent. We were later told through email and in person that they will process the refund within 14 business days. We have visited the business many times and they could not tell us a definite date for the refund. They say that they will email us and tell us when to come for our money. It has been three weeks and the 14 days have passed and we haven't gotten the refund.

The manager, [redacted] told us on the 21st that he will process the refund and call us the following day. He has not and when we call him, he is very disingenious with telling us when we will get the refund. We believe that they are being dishonest and are trying to rob us of our money. They keep telling us to write to [redacted] and wait for a response and that the money has to come from a head office. We do not know about that, since we paid our money at the [redacted] office.

I need the money to move out of my current apartment and I can not until I get my refund. I have sickle cell and it is telling on my health since I am being stressed. I can not handle the dilema with them and it almost sent me to the hospital in crisis. I am not in best of health to be running to and from the office to get my refund. I have the receipt and need help to get my refund.Desired Settlement: I would like to get my refund of $1900 now, since the 14 business days have passed during which my refund should have been processed. It has been 21 days. I need the money to move to a new apartment on the [redacted]Feburary.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Hi Mr. Blassberger,

I would like to let you know that Alotta Apartments-City Flats refunded my $1900 on the the 28th January, a day short of one month after I gave them my deposit. They only gave me the refund because I showed up to their office with Help Me Howard from Pix11 News.

Before this, they refused to answer my calls and everytime I showed up at the office; they made excuses about when I would have gotten the refund. They would tell me to expect an email indicating when to come in. I never received that email and had to request the help of the media. The 14 days to receive my refund had passed and they failed to uphold that policy.

I have noticed that their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Alotta-Apartments/305224549537359?ref=br_tf has numerous complaints of similar nature.

Thank you, Revdex.com, for assisting me in obtaining my refund.

Thank You,

Anndis Fraser

Review: Complaint

On Saturday, December [redacted], 2013 we began the process of applying for an apartment listed by Alotta Apartmetns located at [redacted]. In accordance with the firms business policies and rules, we submitted the first of what was to be 3 payments of $1,450.00 with the understanding that should we decide to pull out of the process on our own, the money cannot be refunded. However, should our application be denied for ANY reason, we could either continue to pursue other apartments with Alotta Apartments or request a refund. As per the receipt printed for us, any requested refund would be available 7-14 business days after the refund is requested; this receipt was signed after providing the required deposit and documentation for the application.

On the week of December **, we were informed that our application for the aforementioned apartment, was denied. As a result of this denial and in accordance to the arrangement outlined by Alotta Apartments and documented on the signed receipt, we requested a refund of the $1,450.00; this was done via email to [redacted], sent on Saturday, December [redacted], 2013 at 10:51am. On Monday, December [redacted], 2013 at 8:44am, Alotta Apartments replied to the refund request stating that it was received and that notification will be sent to the applicants after January [redacted], 2014 as to what day that week the full refund would be ready.

On Monday, January [redacted], 2014 at 7:00pm, after receiving no contact from anyone associated with Alotta Apartments regarding the status of the refund, we sent a follow up email seeking the promised refund information. On January **, 2014, having still not received a written response, we sent another follow up email seeking the status of their refund after having spoken to several other representatives of Alotta Apartments. That same day, an email sent by the Alotta Apartments refund department replied to our email stating the refund request was received and being processed, and that we would be notified as to what day and time we can pick up the refund. In response to that email, we asked via email why the refunds were not available in accordance with what we were told on several prior occasions.

On January [redacted], 2014, after receiving no response from the refund department, and after receiving different information from various company representatives, including one [redacted]( CEO of Alotta Apartments), who explained to us that he did not care about us getting our refund nor was it his job since we are not his clients and that [redacted]was in control of the funds, we contacted the company owner ([redacted]) directly via email. In this email, we outlined the events as they occurred, and also provided her with the previous email correspondence sent to the Alotta refund department; additionally, we once again requested an update and resolution to the refund owed. After receiving no response to said email, we contacted the owner via telephone. [redacted] then explained that she in fact, was not in control of the refunds for the company. She named [redacted] as the person who was responsible for processing refunds, and stated she would get to the bottom of the situation and get back us with the information requested. After once again receiving no response, we reached out to [redacted]again and she explained again that she had no control over the refunds. We then returned to Alotta’s office and spoke with the office [redacted], [redacted], who then explained he would “expedite” the process and provide a day and time for refund pickup upon contacting him the next morning. He provided his personal number to contact him. In reaching out to him as instructed, we discovered he provided us with a false phone number. We then returned to the office where we were once again given no information as to the status of the refund of $1,450.00. [redacted] would explain that he was waiting on the owner ( [redacted]) to provide the date and time and that he would get back to us in the evening. After receiving no response again, we reached out to him and he explained that an email was sent to us with the information we requested. However no email was received. [redacted] would then offer up another explanation, stating that another agent, [redacted], was responsible for providing that information and should have sent that email but apparently did not. [redacted] asked that we call him again the next morning and he would have the situation resolved. On the morning of January [redacted], we reached out to [redacted] but no response. We tried several times throughout the day but no response. After several attempts over the course of three weeks, after following the instructions provided by the company, its representatives, and its owner, there has still been no resolution to this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of $1450 by cashiers check or money order.

Review: I applied for an apartment on 10/**/13 with this company and provided and application fee of 100 dollars and a 1300 dollars deposit to hold the apartment. The 100 dollars is non refundable but the 1300 dollars gets refunded in 7 business days if you get denied. I dot denied because of credit and put in a request the next business day because I was informed in 2 hours I was denied. I have still not been refunded. I was sent an email that due to large demand the refund would be available on 11/**/13 and I went to the office and no money was there no one there knowing any knowledge or passing the buck , I need this to be resolved . They are holding my money and I think have no intentions of paying me back basically stealing moneyDesired Settlement: I would like my money refunded ASAP. they are doing some shady things , what are they doing with the money

Review: On December ** 2013, me and my girlfriend were looking for an apartment in Brooklyn New York, where we hire the broker company [redacted]. we explain to the company that we are trying to move before the New Years or even sooner, they explain to us that they can help us look for an apartment and try to get us move in on the first of January ONLY ON APPROVAL. that was also stated in the contract me and my girlfriend signed. In the contract, it stated that "If we are not approve because of any condition our broker fee will be return to us, our broker fee was $1300 the cost of the rent. Two days later, the company contact us and told us that we weren't approval because of our bad credit but if we want to move in, we would need to come up with $5000.00 extra to move in. being that it was the holiday and we werent not approve, we decide to ask for our money back, and not the application fee. the employee/ company is refusing to give it back and not honor the contract... bad businesDesired Settlement: I would like to have my broker fee return to us, like stated in the contract

Review: On the [redacted]of February, 2014 I went through ALOTTA Apartments to help me find an apartment. I went to see an apartment with them in Brooklyn and went to apply for it. When applying the [redacted] told me that I had to put down a deposit for the apartment which I found normal but not the amount that she told me to put down. She asked for a full months rent as the deposit plus the application fee of $1325 in total. When I was denied the apartment I asked to get my deposit back and they told me that I would have to file a deposit request online which I did on the **of March, 2014 via email. They never gave me a specific date on when to pick up the deposit they just told me they would email me when to go pick it up at the office. After a week, today being the [redacted]of March, I went personally to the office to ask for my deposit as I was approved for an apartment elsewhere and the employees could not give me a direct answer. After asking for a general managers information to contact her directly I was denied such. I was given a phone number of an employee who supposed no longer works there as of today, March [redacted]. I called several times asking to speak to management with no avail. Finally after hours of reaching out, I was able to get in contact with the owner [redacted], who told me that the company was actually going through in house thievery and possibly filing bankruptcy.Desired Settlement: The business should take responsibility and refund my entire deposit. It is completely immoral, unethical, and completely ridiculous that this company believes this is a just and fair experience for a consumer.

Review: On December [redacted], 2013, I met with [redacted] with [redacted] Apartments. She showed me an apartment at [redacted]. I was interested and immediately we begun the application process. She drove me to chase bank located on Flatbush and Church Avenue. I took out $800 and then we drove back to her office located at [redacted]. I placed a $700 refundable deposit on the apartment and $100 non-refundable application fee and credit check. [redacted] handled all of the paper work. He took my money and presented me with a copy of the receipt. On December [redacted], 2013, I came back to the office and spoke with [redacted] and [redacted]. At that time they decided that my application was not strong enough to be submitted to the landlord due to the fact that I did not meet the income requirements. At the time of placing the deposit, [redacted] explained that I would only receive a refund for the deposit if I was not approved for the apartment. If I placed a deposit and then I personally decided that I was no longer interested in the property, I would not be entitled to a refund. This information is also indicated in the receipt that I signed and dated. After much, disappointment and realizing that I would not be approved for the apartment, on December **, 2013, [redacted] stated (via text message) that I can request a refund. On December **, 2013 I followed the directions indicated on my receipt and sent an email requesting a refund. I have called the number indicated on the receipt several times and NO ONE ever picks up the phone. When the answering machine prompts you to leave a voice message, the phone cuts off. I have only communicated via email with the company and they respond sparingly. Excluding the weekends and the recent holidays, today counts as the [redacted]business day since I have requested a refund. The receipt indicates that it will take 7 to 14 business days to receive a refund. On December **, I received an email from the company stating that I would be notified after January [redacted]as to what exact day that week (of the 4th) that my deposit would be ready. Today is January **and I have not heard back from anyone. I emailed the company on January [redacted], to inquire about the refund and they have not responded.Desired Settlement: 750, I placed a $700 deposit on the apartment plus $100 - $50 for the application fee and $50 for a credit check. The credit check was performed, however, my application was never given a fair shot and was not presented to the landlord. Therefore, I was charged an extra $50 for a service that was not performed.

Review: I contracted with the subject business, working under the name Alotta Apartments to obtain a 1 bedroom apartment. I spent considerable time with their representative, [redacted]. I also spoke directly with the business owner, [redacted]. After we located a suitable apartment, I had a choice whether to sign the lease for Feb **or **, 2014. I wanted to move in as quickly as possible, so I chose to sign the lease for Feb **. The actual signing date was Feb **, 2014. I was unable to move in due to several missing items until Monday Feb **. [redacted] explained to me that because I was unable to move in on the **, that my March rent would be prorated accordingly to make up for the time gap between Feb **and the move-in date. The rental management company (OE Realty) would not support this agreement and told me I had to pay for the full months of both Feb AND March, which I did. I went back to Alotta, who again assured me that the March rent was to be pro-rated.

I have completed several calls to both [redacted] and [redacted] asking them to assist me in this matter, or provide a refund for the pro-rated days from the full month's fee I paid them. Neither party has responded to these daily calls. The monthly rental amount is $1450, or $48.33 per day. My fee to Alotta was $1450 and is paid in full. I have also paid the full month's rent for March 2014. [redacted] also assured me that several of the missing items--the kitchen ceiling was badly stained, entire kitchen needed to be painted, missing shower curtain rod, non-working stove, missing toilet seat, etc. --would be remedied prior to my move-in. None of these items were completed by Feb [redacted], though all have been completed by today's date.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund of a minimum of $291.96 (6 days) to a maximum of $483.33 (10 days) because it was NOT necessary for me to sign for Feb **. I could have easily waited until the [redacted], giving the management company time to remedy the missing items detailed above. This is causing me a hardship because I was required to pay a total of 3 month's rent to the management company, plus the 1 month's fee to Alotta, essentially exhausting my personal funds. The money is only part of the issue. This behavior from Alotta is unacceptable. They should understand the pro-rating policies of the management companies they represent before assuring customers otherwise. They have lost all credibility with me and will never get a referral from me, even though I currently have 2 friends looking for places to live or move.
