The City of Sacramento – Department of Utilities has researched the details surrounding the complaint assigned the identification number of [redacted]. Per City of Sacramento Code, the legal owner of record is liable for utility services rendered to a property. As both spouses are...
legal owners per the deed recorded with the County of Sacramento, both spouses are liable for all service charges that billed on the account during the period of ownership of the property. Because there were two customers with joint ownership, both would have had to have filed for bankruptcy in order to have the result of the bankruptcy apply to this account. The husband is the only legal owner to have filed for bankruptcy in this case. If each had only a percentage of ownership in the property, then the Department would only write-off the percentage that the customer who filed bankruptcy would be responsible to pay. In this case both owners have full or joint ownership and so no portion of the debt could be written off by the City. Thank you for allowing the Department to address this complaint and please contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely,[redacted]Customer Service ManagerDepartment of UtilitiesCity of Sacramento

Review: This is in regards to our previous property [redacted]! Reason im disputing the city of Sacramento Utility bill is because we are being charged over 1933 dollars for services not being used!! The house was previously rented and as a result of non payments and fianncial problems tenants did no pay us rent!!! Nor didnt want to get out of our house!! We ended up taking tenants to court, suing them for the amount of over 8,000 dollars in which we never received any payments!! After a long fight the tenants left our home and due to my spouse's bankruptcy and our financial problems we could t afford the property!! The property was over a yr behind on payments! As well as the sacramento utility bill! The property ended up in foreclosure through [redacted] mortgage Was sold and we never knew anything about the Sacramento Utility Bill till bill was really high!! I dont think its fair for us to pay this bill nor I camt afford to pay it at this moment!!!Desired Settlement: I would like for this to be taken care off so I can take it off my credit report! Ita ruining my credit! This should have been taken care off when house was sold!!!!
