City Sightseeing New York Reviews (4)

Review: I booked 2 tickets with Twin America (Grayline / Citysights New York) on the [redacted] of August 2013, for the Spirit Dinner Cruise on Sat [redacted] Aug from Chelsey Piers at a cost of $286. My credit card has been charged 3 times instead of once. I called my bank who confirmed that the funds have all been transferred to Twin America.

I have called and emailed Twin America since the [redacted] of August when I noticed the over charge with no success. I eventually got the details of Twin America's customer service manager, [redacted], who initially displayed some professionalism and willingness to help. She has received all information necessary, booking reference number, my credit card statement etc., but has stopped answering emails or returning phone calls. I have not received any information that I will be refunded.

The last email from [redacted], on the [redacted] of August, reads as follow:

Good Morning [redacted],

I am on top of this issue, I have sent the inquiry to accounting to review your booking and look for those extra charges. The person assigned is not in on Saturday. I apologize but I am expecting a response by Monday.

Thank you

Review: On July [redacted], family who was visiting from Virginia requested to go see the Statue of Liberty. Upon arriving at the Staten Island Ferry stop (last stop on the #1 train) I approach a gentleman from City Sight Seeing and ask where was the Statue Cruises Location for the Statue of Liberty. He goes on and on that it is STILL NOT OPEN FOR BUSINESS. I insist it was all over the news and NY1 the island is open. He was so adamant I took his word for it and I didn't want to continue to argue and we agree to go on the crappy City Sight Seeing NY cruise (60 minute). The charge was $19.00 per adult and $15.00 per child over the age of 3 years old. In a nut shell, the boat was OVERCROWDED; As we passed the Ellis Island there were MANY visitors and Statue Cruises was unloading another group. Lastly, the cruise was NOT 60 minutes. If this is not misleading and false advertising I don't know what is.Desired Settlement: As noted above they charge $19.00 per adult and $15.00 per child. Statue Cruises which is OPEN to take visitors to Ellis Island charges $17.00 per adult and $9.00 per child (age 4 to 12). I want to be reimbursed the difference plus an additional $5.00 per person (we were a group of 4 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 10 years old) for NO seating (overcrowded) and less the time (the trip was NOT 60 minutes). I am requesting a refund total of $40.00. The breakdown is as follows: Cost difference for adult ticket(s): $2.00 per adult = $8.00 Cost difference for children ticket(s): $6.00 per child = $12.00 Additional compensation for false advertising; overcrowding on boat; cruise NOT 60 minutes: $5.00 per person/child = $30.00 TOTAL: $40.00

Response:

Dear [redacted], ([redacted])

This letter is inresponse to the complaint filed by [redacted] ID # [redacted]

We have reviewed [redacted]' s case. We at City Sightseeing Cruises would like to thank [redacted] for bringing her concerns

to our attention.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience [redacted] may have experienced Wirh regards to the New York tour and hope she chooses CirySightseeing Crttises her next sightseeing experience.

We Understand thar [redacted] was not satisfied with the package that she purchased. We investigated [redacted]' s claim that she was not issued all tickets that went with the tour, specifically the Empire State building tour. I check With accoUnting and [redacted]was issued a package that included the Empire Stare building tour.

There was no way for the agent to issue one pa:rt without the oilier because the tickets prim om together. It was explained to [redacted] based on this information we are Unable 10 issue a refund.

We consider [redacted] a mosc valued customer and hope that she can appreciate our position in this matter.

Review: On Saturday, October **, 2013, at around 1 PM I took my *-year old son to the [redacted] observatory. I did not buy tickets on-line, nor did I check their cost. When we are in New York city, we live in [redacted] neighborhood, and we just decided to do that after his soccer game, since he had never done it before.

On our way from subway down [redacted], still many buildings before the [redacted], we were ambushed by several young men, wearing City Sightseeing Cruises insignia, insisting on selling us tickets to the [redacted] observatory.

I did not trust them at first, but when I saw how many of them there are, and how many other people are buying tickets from them, I accepted their narrative: that the [redacted] willingly subcontracted the ticket selling to them on the street, to reduce number of people waiting to buy tickets inside, and I bought tickets for me and my son.

When we came to the [redacted], those tickets scanned OK and we were admitted. You can follow this Facebook link to the pictures of us there.

However, the person who sold me tickets (identified in the attached invoice as agent [redacted]), never suggested that there would be a premium on buying tickets outside of the building, or explained what the price difference would be.

Furthermore, he charged an adult price for a child, explaining that kids under 5 were admitted free, but that everyone over 5 pays the same price, which is not the truth, as I discovered on-line at the [redacted] website.

[redacted] Particularly disgusting is that the salesperson then further defrauded me by telling me that the tickets are $35 each, yet charging me $78 total, correctly assuming I would not see the difference between 0 and 8 in a small type while standing on the street.

The invoice incorrectly states “2 Adult”, while my *-year old son is obviously not an adult. The invoice also states “Cruise plus ESB”. Yet we neither requested the cruise, nor we discussed any cruise, and we were certainly not issued any tickets for any cruise.

I think this is a robbery. I believe the salesperson committed a crime, and I intend of pursuing this case through the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs, Revdex.com, Small Claims Court. Moreover, I shall inform the local NYPD precinct about the potential illegal activity unraveling on the city block containing the [redacted].Desired Settlement: As I should have paid $27 for and adult admission and $21 for a child (6-12 years of age) admission, totaling $48, and I actually paid $78, I hold City Sightseeing Cruises liable and owing $30 to me, plus any interest and penalties assigned by the court.
