She called complaining that the driver charged her $20 for a ride for which she has never paid more than $15.00. She was travelling from [redacted] [redacted] in St. Paul to [redacted] [redacted] She said the driver was driving in the right lane very slowly. I spoke with my driver and he the fare was $9.70, (which...

was also on his trip sheet), and would be a correct amount for this run. The driver said he gave her a $10.00 bill  in change and as she started to exit the cab, he said, "wait, you have another $.30 coming". He said she told him to keep it and got out. When I called her back after speaking with my driver she kept changing her story about the amount. First she insisted it was $20, then "$19-something". I told her it would have only run about $9.70. I asked her again, exactly how much was on the meter. She then insisted it was $19.70 and that the driver "ripped her off". I asked if she was sure and she said she was positive and that, "I wish I had taken a picture so you could see it was $19.70. I then told her that it could not have been $19.70 because the meter never computes to that amount in our fare structure. It could have been $19.60 or $20.05, but not $19.70. She said I had told her it was $9.70 so why not $19.70. I tried to explain that the meter computes in $.45 increments and so would not come out to $19.70.She said I was yelling at her, but instead, I was trying to answer her questions and explain about the meter but she kept interrupting. I finally said I will not argue any longer and this conversation is over. This driver had been with us for more than 5 years, is very reliable, and a very honest driver. I would vouch for his honesty and integrity as a driver and as a person. He had had numerous compliments.I don't know what could have happened to the other $10, but this driver would not have "ripped her off".
