This particular customer was towed because and even in her own words she left the property after taking a parking space in a busy shopping center where it is clearly marked on six(6) signs throughout
the parking center. By law we are only required to have signs which are at the entrance and exit. If my guard was in his car on the phone it was either to call the Towing Company or the Police Department. We do not make thoses calls in public view just in case we have to discuss information about the driver and or vehicle.Additonally the receipt given was time stamped for after the vehicle was towed. This is something that people do when they get towed to try and show something saying they were a customer. The problem is they don't realize that after they are witnessed leaving the property a hour time limit begins. If the customer does not return then the Tow company is called. These towing guidelines are strictly enforced as per the shopping center owners guidelines which not only meet but exceed California Vehicle Code
Review: We were parked in a private lot in which the security guard from this company was working. When we entered the lot, there was no security officer to be seen. We walked over to another location briefly, then returned to purchase an item from one of the businesses, [redacted], on the property. (I have the receipt if needed). When we returned, our car had been towed. We witnessed the security guard on his phone in his car, rather than patrolling the lot. The company claims on their website that their officers are highly visible and pro-active 24-7, but this is not the case. The individual was in a personal vehicle that was unmarked -- we were unaware of his presence. Further, how can one be proactive while sitting in a car on their phone? Rather than inquire about why we were leaving or whether we intended to make a purchase, our vehicle was towed.
The company is towing paying customers from the property whose business owners it is supposed to be looking out for. This is unacceptable and bad for business. The cost to get the car out was $337.50.
Further, 24-7Desired Settlement: We would like the security company to cover the cost of the towing.
