Citylights Cruises Reviews (4)

Review: Purchased 7 tickets from a city light cruise rep. at an expo for $15.00 each. We were told we would have to pay an additional $20.00-$25.00dollars when make the reservation to cover tax, grantitue, and 2 drinks. When I made the reservation on June **, 2013 for 5 people via their online reservation by credit card for July *, 2013. I recieved a confirmation number and confirmation e-mail. I was notified by the company on June **, 2013 the there was a problem and the boat was not sailing. they were taking the first people as reservation came to reschedule. I informed them I was one of the first to make a reservation and I should be on the new boat July *, 2013. I was then told I did not have a reservation. I gave them my reservation number and they found my reservation but to me I still could not get on the boat for July *, 2013 because of no payment. The then told me there must have been a computer clich on there computer in and the reservation payment did not go through even thought I had a reservation number and confirmation. They then wanted to book us on another cruise ship half the size smaller on a different date and still charge us the the same amount as the original cruse and instead of the $20.-$25.00 were told we were to pay at booking the reservation . They charged us $39.50 per person at reservation even with all the inconvincience. We tried calling the number they gave us to get our $15. per person but no one ever answers the phone or respond to e-mailsDesired Settlement: full refund or partical refund on payment

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Citylights Cruises regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased tickets with City Light Cruises to Donate to a Womens shelter in Illinois and it seems they were unable to use them due to the lack of availability. I tried to book them for 12 months and were always told the spaces were full. This is a scam to collect money from individuals when the service is never available. Imagine my embarrassment when I realized the tickets were of no value at all. They also work with [redacted] and there certificates are also unusable.Desired Settlement: 500.00

Review: I live in chgo Il. I was in the Illinois State building where this advertisement for City LIghts Cruises. The original price for the cruise tickets was 60.00 and the advertise price was 15.00 per ticket. The packgage was for week day of Wed through Sat. it included a 3hour boat cruise with food and beverage an a 14.00 tax and tips. The face value on the ticket states 45.00. When I called for reservations I was told that the City Lights Cruise had gone out of business and Party Cruise Chgo had taken over the City Lights Cruises business.( I purchased the tickets in Aug of 2013. I was making reservations of sept. [redacted] of 2013 for the date of oct.[redacted] 2013. It was then when the reserv representative said I had to pay 80.00 additional dollars for the tickets in order to take the cruise. Mind you I purchase 4 tickets and got two free; so they said. I paid a total of 60.00 for four tickets and got two free. So I was informed by Party cruise cruise (which is not listed on the tickets) that I have to pay an additional 40.00 for each ticket I have purchased from the city lights cruises. I am a single parent was trying to spend wisely for my family. I do have a receipt of purchase and the tickets; can't afford another 40.00. Can I be helped in getting my money back!Desired Settlement: To give unused tickets back in exchange for my 60.00. Or go on cruise for the purchase price of the tickets

Review: I purchased a voucher for a city lights cruise in Boston MA good until the end of 2012. I scheduled a cruise for 4 people for December *, 2012 and was charged $158 on my discover card for various charges. On November **, 2012, city lights cruises cancelled our trip and I was informed by them I had an open credit until the end of 2013. I then tried to reschedule a cruise in June of 2013 and discovered city lights cruises no longer was in business in Boston. I have been calling the company in New York since July **, 2013 requesting a refund of $158. On August *, I was told the manager issued a credit and it would take 3 to 4 days to process. Nothing ever showed. I called again August ** and was told they couldn't issue a credit so a check was in the mail and I would receive it by the end of the week. Again nothing. I called again on September * and was told the check had been mailed and to be patient because of the holiday. Again nothing. I have called them nine times and have received no satisfaction. I believe they are just giving me the round around. I would appreciate any and all help you could give to help resolve this situation. All I want is a simple refund of $158 for the charges on my credit card. Thank you for your assistance.Desired Settlement: Refund of $158.
