RE: ID #: *** and ***

To Whom It May Concern: I'm writing on behalf of CJ's Mobile Auto Repair, LLC with regard to the above referenced complaints. CJ's Mobile Auto Repair, LLC is a small, family-owned business that opened in March 2020, just before everything was shut down due to COVID-19. We are a licensed and insured LLC in the State of Washington and have never had a bad review up to this point. The business owner, Charles L, does all of the mechanic work and has over 7 years of experience in the auto-mechanics field. Charlie takes great pride in his work and delivering a quality product to satisfy his customers. He wants to have their repeat business and also referrals of family, friends and colleagues. The biggest challenge in the past three months is that he has had a tremendous amount of work and is still working to iron out some of the details of scheduling to be able to satisfy the needs of everyone. As is typical in the field of auto-mechanics, sometimes certain jobs can take more time than originally anticipated at the time of origin. Most of his customers are very understanding, as he does his best to communicate with them throughout the process. However, in this particular case, communication broke down. This was due to the fact that both he and his phone became soaked with coolant and the customer's contact information was in the phone. Because he was attempting to finish the job that was already taking longer than expected, instead of dealing with getting a new phone, he went to find the last part he needed for the job---a hose which ended up taking 6-hours to track down locally. During that time he was not able to receive or return text messages or calls. Yes, he could have, and should have, gone to the customer's home to directly contact them; he takes full responsibility for the breakdown in communication. By the time he (through his wife, as replacing a cell phone through an online plan takes more than a day) was able to make contact with the customer, the situation had escalated to a point where he was being threatened and false accusations were being made. Charlie's wife did attempt to communicate with the customer through Facebook, but she is not involved in the business operations and therefore is unable to provide the information the customer was demanding. Each customer of CJ's Mobile Auto Repair, LLC authorizes all work with an e-signature prior to the start of any work. That authorization also informs the customer that there are times when work may take longer than originally anticipated. Unfortunately, part of being a mobile mechanic means that when the work is done at the customer's property, there is the risk of having the vehicle used before the work is completed. Just as any repair shop would maintain possession of the keys to the vehicle until completion of the repair, CJ's Mobile Auto Repair, LLC would also maintain possession of the keys to the vehicle during the repair process. This also happened in this case, as it would have been detrimental to start the vehicle before the repairs had been completed. PO Box 1286 Richland, WA 99352 (509) 380-3923 Unfortunately, the customer chose to accuse our business of "theft" and had a locksmith make an additional key to the vehicle and also had another mechanic come out. Then the customer claimed the vehicle wouldn't start. It is customary for CJ's Mobile Auto Repair, LLC to warranty completed work for 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, but also states clearly that this warranty is null and void if another mechanic or shop is used. Out of a job that originally was anticipated to take 10 hours of labor, less than an hour of work was left on this customer’s vehicle. The job was not completed as the customer had threatened to call the police if Charlie returned to the property, therefore not all the necessary parts had been installed which is why the vehicle wouldn’t start. This was concerning, to say the least, and Charlie had called the non-emergency number for law enforcement himself, asking the best way to handle the situation. (This all took place between Wednesday evening, June 24th and Sunday, June 28th, with the breakdown of communication occurring between Thursday and Saturday.) Ultimately, Charlie and his wife drove to the customer’s house and returned the keys. As the customer had also requested his business license information, he was in the process of trying to go and get it for them when the customer’s wife blocked him from getting into the car. Charlie’s wife waited for the customer’s wife to move back from leaning on the car and then backed up approximately three feet so Charlie could get into the car. The customer’s wife then made a dramatic gesture stumbling toward the car and accused Charlie’s wife of “hitting her with the car”. The police were called and both the customer and his wife and a neighbor collaborated on their individual reports so they all had the same story. There was no evidence, no marks on the car or the customer’s wife, to back up this false claim. The customer’s complaint about the breakdown of communication has been acknowledged and we are doing our best to make sure that is not an issue in the future. A copy of the current business license for CJ’s Mobile Auto Repair, LLC is included with this letter and was shown to the customer as well. The customer has already disputed the charge for services and the funds have been returned to them. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Sincerely, M. H, Registered Agent CJ's Mobile Auto Repair
