there have been some disagreement with residents who were moving outLike any
business we always try and resolve them as soon as possibleI receive a
few
phone calls and e mails from Mrs***
After reviewing the
complaint letter I find there are some differencesFirst I was unaware that
the family was cleaning his apartment
We have a contract with a pest control company that visits
the village on a regular basisI called them and ask about how they treat for
bedbugsThey use a chemical freezeI called a number of other companies and
the consensus was that heat treatment was the best solutionI asked a company
to give us an inspection and a priceThe bugs were found in two apartments and
a price was around thousand dollars for each apartment to be treatedBoth
families were informed of price and that they would be responsible for the cost
of treatmentBoth families decided to find their own company for treatment,
which they didI offered them an empty
apartment while the treatment was appliedBefore the treatment I had the other
two apartments in the hall inspected discretelyNo bugs were foundThere are
many speculations on how the bugs entered the apartmentIt was an isolated
area and both families took care of itThe other family didn’t like that they
had to pay but did payMrs*** chose to deduct the cost of the treatment from
her father’s rent
Upon moving out the *** family apartment was inspected
and a tear in the vinyl floor was discovered.
How it happened is anybody’s guessThe renter is responsible for any
repairs in the apartment upon vacatingThe floor has been replacedAlso we
refunded $for carpet
I am sorry for the loss of Mrs*** father, ***
***He was a kind and gentle man and is missed by residents and staff
Unfortunately the complaint was not resolved by claremont I have pictures of the vinyl "tear" that was actually not a tear but scuff marks Also it did not require replacement of the entire vinyl and at last check had not been replaced The carpet money was reimbursed bc I had pictures to prove they lied about "extensive carpet damage" The bedbug situation was not our responsibility according to Ohio Law and I checked with other residents in my fathers hall who confirmed that their apts were not inspected for bed bugs Employees complained about bed bug bites in another hall and were told to keep it quiet A new resident moved into our father's apt recently and has no knowledge that the apt was treated for bedbugs Unfortunately, the management is not truthful Yes, my father did movetemporarily to another apt so his apt could be treated but that was only after I went in on a Saturday and demanded to speak to Bill, the administrator I insisted my father and his neighbor be moved and I did the moving of my father's belongings So no, the case is not resolved to our satisfaction *** *** ***
