Clarion Del Mar Inn

Review: Due to an error in the Choice Hotel/Clarion Hotel reservation system, I was mistakenly recorded as reserving two hotel rooms instead of one hotel room for a stay on July 16-18, 2014. I was not given any confirmation for my reservation, or notice that I had more than one room reserved. One week prior to my hotel stay, I received a note from the hotel reminding me of my two reservations, and letting me know that it was too late to cancel. I contacted the local hotel to tell them of their mistake. I was told they would take care of it. I then stayed at the hotel, and paid my bill upon checkout. I later discovered that they also charged me the full price of a second room for two nights of $336.38 on 7/16/14 / $336.78 on 7/17/14. I have tried for several weeks to get this second charge removed. The general manager of the hotel wrote me and said it was not possible. The headquarters of the hotel is still looking into it. I have also filed a complaint with my credit card.Desired Settlement: I believe that I should be refunded for the duplicate charges.

Review: By utilizing the hotel rate discount site Hotwire (parent company: Expedia) this hotel acted to induce customers into purchasing stays at their establishment under the premise they were a 3* rated property with certain advertised amenities. Star Rating: Expedia (Hotwire's parent company), Hotels.com (related company) along with most (if not all) other major sites have this property identified as a 2.5* property. This hotel appears to have entered into a specific agreement with Hotwire whereby their property will be advertised as a 3* with certain amenities, deceiving and defrauding users reliant upon the stated rating and amenities, as a means to move unsold inventory.Amenities: Expressly on the advertisement and on the receipt, it is stated that this hotel offers a free breakfast. This is consistent with other 3* properties in Del Mar like Holiday Inn Express and could be used as a means to inducing purchasers into thinking they were buying this property or a similarly rated property. Additionally, the hotel's website advertises "Enjoy our beautiful Del Mar hotel accommodations with Balcony With Garden & Ocean View." This is not the case for all rooms and in fact we did not receive a room with any balcony. Other amenities listed on the site indicate where applicable that an amenity is available only in "(Some Rooms)", however this was not so denoted after the statement about balconies.In sum, this hotel has been engaging in false advertising utilizing the website Hotwire to induce customers nationally to purchase rooms of a quality and with features/amenities that they do not and refuse to provide. All attempts to resolve this issue with the Hotel/Hotwire have failed and resulted in me spending a holiday/birthday weekend stuck in a low quality room and having to spend my quality vacation time attempting to bring this issue to resolution (most of the night of check-in as well as the following morning).Evidence of all statements above are available upon request.Thank YouDesired Settlement: Refund of the room charges ($319.33) and reimbursement of the costs of breakfast ($41.58 for - 3 days - receipts available).
