Clarion Inn at Arden Village Reviews (4)

Review: We stayed at Sacramento Inn August 22 -24. The rooms were disgusting. The hotel scheduled an Electric Outdoor Concert. This concert had young adults being extremely loud, which disturb our sleep. Also the hallways had young adults standing around drinking amd smoking marijuana. Because of their excessive drinking we had to step over vomit in the hallways also.I've made numerous calls to the holtel requesting to speak to General manager [redacted] or the owner [redacted]. No one has returned my call.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund of $80.14, one night stay which include hotel taxes.

Review: To return the $113.36 that was charged to my Debit Checking Account.

On September 01, 2013 myself and three (3) others checked in at the Clarion Inn 1401 Arden Way in Sacramento. Prior to checking in we made a reservation sometime in August under my co-workers name [redacted] They [redacted] needed a Credit Card for the reservation and Mr. [redacted] did not have one so we used my [redacted] Card. Upon Checking in at the Clarion Inn I told the front desk lady [redacted] that we will be paying for our hotel rooms in Cash and not by credit card. We paid for our hotel room in cash on the day we checked in. But I was told by my bank that there was a hold of $113.36 on my account from the Clarion Hotel. My bank then told me that the hold would be released by September 11, 2013. When I got back home my account was overdrawn on September 20, 2013, because there was a charge of $113.36 from the Clarion Inn. I called my bank in Hawaii to dispute this charge from the Clarion Inn, because we had paid for the hotel room in cash, and I also provided our [redacted] Office (First [redacted] Bank) a copy of the receipt from the Clarion Inn showing that we paid in cash for the room. On that same day I called the Clarion Inn to inquire about the credit card charge and the lady told me that the manager Mr. [redacted] was the only one who could credit back my account, so I asked her to have Mr. [redacted] call me ASAP. Later that day after I left my bank from filing the dispute on the charge, I received a call from Mr. [redacted] and discussed the matter. Mr. [redacted] then informed me that he would reverse the charge and credit my account back on one condition, That I go online to Choicehotels.com and put in a good comment for them. I told him that I will do no such thing and that he should return my money or I will report this matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). The Clarion Inn has no right to charge my Debit Checking Account, because we paid for the hotel room in Cash!!!!!Desired Settlement: I want a settlement from the Clarion Inn Hotel in the following;

1) Return the charged amount from my Debit Checking Account in the amount of $113.36.

2) Return the charged amount for the overdrawn fee from my bank (First [redacted] Bank) in the amount of $25.50

3) And to pay me an additional $1,000.00 for causing my account to be overdrawn.

Review: Hotel double billed me and will not refund my money. This caused overdraft fees as well.

I booked a room through hotels.com for a stay on 10/30/13 but, on 11/1/13 (the day after we checked out), somebody at the hotel billed his debit card for a duplicate charge for the same night. When I brought this to the attention of the general manager ([redacted]), he said he would take care of it and e-mail the confirmation to me. He also said he'd call me back.

Instead, he submitted a THIRD charge for the same room/same night. He never called back and never e-mailed me.

My wife called the Choice Hotels Guest Services line and spoke with a [redacted] who said there was nothing they could do except contact the hotel. She also insisted that the only thing that could be done was to get on a three-way call with [redacted] and the bank to ensure this was resolved. Needless to say, the bank would not do that -- and rightfully so! Between a merchant verification (them) and my personal bank verification, too much information would be available to the other party.

I had to come home early from work to try to resolve. I played the back-and-forth game for three hours, and [redacted] twice more told me that he would call me back and didn't. Ultimately, a credit showed up on my online bank account as "pending" for the charge, but the third charge was still pending as well. So basically, if both those transactions had posted, they would cancel each other out and I would still be out the additional (second) charge for the room that had already posted.

This morning (11/7/13), both pending transactions had disappeared. SO now I am having to struggle with the bank to recover the $90.68 plus $60 dollars in overdraft fees because of the first erroneous charge. The general manager never called me back any of the three times he said he would and never e-mailed any confirmation that the erroneous charge would be resolved.

Choice Hotels is a useless entity in all of this. Although this hotel flies under their larger affiliate name, they have no interest in or power to assist customers in resolving. They state their function is to gather/document information and send it ... you guessed it! ... to the GENERAL MANAGER of the hotel in question!

By the way ... the room was awful as well. The morning we checked out (10/31/13), after I showered and was getting dressed, my feet looked black! My wife said, "You washed your feet, right??" (Of course I did.) The floor was that dirty.

Also, despite the relative quiet of the room, there is obviously no security at this place, because about 3am I heard some noise and looked out the bathroom window -- there was a guy hauling a grocery cart full of stuff going from room to room looking for I don't know what. It was creepy and probably unsafe.

This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a hotel, and by far the worst experience trying to resolve an issue with a business. When my wife tried in vain to get the hotel manager to talk to her by going into the hotel this evening (11/7/13), he became enraged. He refused to look at the bank transactions she wanted to show him (proving the transactions and history)! Not only that, but he took a printed out piece of paper and nearly hit her when he waved it violently in her face. He called her a "stupid American" and said we were "bs!" Violent guy, flea bag hotel, scam artists, liars, thieves.Desired Settlement: I want the charge credited and the money for the late fees reimbursed to me. If there is a way to register this complaint so that it is searchable to others, that would probably be a good idea because this is starting to look intentional.

the business took care of the charges

Review: Checked in hotel on Fri August 22, 2014 Room smelled mildew from cleaning and not properly drying. Room keys did not work had to change 4 times. Air conditioning unit went out both nights. Sound check woke everyone up at 1130 for a RAVE Party at the hotel on Saturday, which we were not informed of, not even at check in. Saturday day RAVE party with 20 foot speakers blasted entire complex. Teenagers all over drunk vomiting and passing out. Air condition was off. Couldn't open patio doors due to the music, even though it was extremely loud with doors closed. When I did sit out in the breeze with earplugs, because the room was unbearable, I was asked to go inside or pay for the RAVE PARTY show. Smelled up marijuana set off my sinuses. Police shut the event down. They took the party to the room above mine, until security shut them down. Was there with a group of people for a nice weekend and dance at hotel. Manager not returning calls. Hotel is not Clarion but now called Sacramento Inn and Suites. Our group of about 30 people age 40 and up.Desired Settlement: Request refund for both nights. Unable to sleep neither night. Cleanest of the hotel was horrible. Hotel should have informed us when we booked that the RAVE Party was going on. Air conditioning unit did not work either night. Just an overall HORRIBLE stay. Between no air and my hot flashes and the smells setting off my sinuses, both nights compensation would be appreciated.
