Clark Eye Care Center Reviews (%countItem)

I have worn contacts for 18 yrs, I needed a new prescription and decided to try this dr as his location and hours were convenient for me.
My 1st appt was 01/28, he did an exam. found that I had an irritation in my left eye, he thought I needed a different brand of contacts that would allow more oxygen to my eye. He also noted a slight stigmatism, I told him I had been told that for several years.
We decided not to go with anti stigma contacts since it was not really bothering me, he had me try on a pair of contacts which did not work well, at this point he said instead of running back and forth I will take you over to my contact specialist who will fit you with a comfortable pair.
There was no sink available in this area and was told to use hand sanitizer to try on contacts. As it turned out he totally changed the prescribed lenses by the dr, I walked out with anti stigma contacts completely different than what the dr had prescribed.
For a few weeks I tried to get used to the lenses that just did not work well for me. I also wondered why I was told to use hand sanitizer(which is alcohol based) when I already had an eye irriation.
I then decided to make an appt with my old eye dr to get the correct lenses.
Well not only will I have to pay for another appt I developed a severe eye infection which has cost me hundreds of dollars to treat. I believe the infection was caused by unsanitary conditions to try on lenses that WERE NOT PRESCRIBED BY DR!!
So I am out the money for the appt there, the money I will have to pay for another exam and the cost of my eye infection!!!!

Desired Outcome

Refund i should be refunded my cost of this visit and also feel i should be compensate for money spent on an eye infection and another eye exam

I would like to apologize that you had an unpleasant experience with our office and would like to offer you a refund for your exam and contact lens evaluation since you feel there was no value to you. There are a few things with your complaint that I would like to address.

First, at your exam on 1/28 you noted that you were having discomfort with your left contact lens. You also noted that you sleep in your contact lenses. Upon examination, I noted superficial punctate keratitis which is dryness/irritation to the front part of your cornea but is not an infection. I recommended that you take 1-2 weeks without contact lenses to allow you eyes to heal. You would not do that because you do not have glasses to wear so I elected to try a more breathable lens as you mentioned and start using artificial tear drops 4-5 times per day. After the first pair of trial lenses was unsuccessful, I took you out to my licensed optician to work with you on the contact lenses. At this point you had already washed your hands with soap and water in the exam room. My licensed optician is certified to fit contact lenses by the State of Florida. He utilized my examination information, which includes the glasses prescription to trial different contact lens options. Noting the astigmatism correction, he trialed a pair of astigmatism lenses to see how you liked it. This was at no additional charge to you and simply to give you an idea of the clarity of vision with astigmatism lenses. When dealing with monovision contact lens evaluation, it is impossible to predict how a patient will be satisfied until we try the lenses on. After working with him, you were brought back into the exam room and I talked with you and looked at the lenses before you left. Your eyes were already irritated when we started the exam and became more irritated after multiple insertions and removals so we decided to allow your eyes to rest, order more trial lenses in your power and see you back for a follow-up in one week.

You came back for a follow-up on 2/3 and expressed to me that you were unhappy with the lack of sink in our contact lens area. I apologized and explained that I did not design the building and unfortunately that is what I have available. I explained that you could always wash your hands in the exam room or restroom before going over to the contact lens area, which you did. At this follow-up you did not mention any symptoms of an infection and there were no signs of infection when I examined your eyes. If your eyes became infected due to unsanitary conditions in my office you would have developed the infection by now.

You then returned on 2/4 stating that your near vision was great but distance was not very good, so my licensed optician gave you another trial lens for your right eye to see if distance vision could be improved. This was the last time you visited our office and again did not mention any symptoms of an infection.

I do not believe I should be responsible for your charges incurred due to your eye infection. This time of the year we are all at a higher risk for eye infections. You are at much higher risk due sleeping in your contact lenses and being a current everyday smoker. Again, I am sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with our office.
