Clarks Manufactured Homes Reviews (%countItem)

We've enjoyed our whole experience with Clarks and have been in our new home a year now. They were extremely helpful and understanding to make sure we got exactly what we wanted in the planning phase, we were even able to do a completely custom floor plan! They would keep us up to date with progress as the project went on and since we've been moved in, they are still helpful with questions we have. Would highly recommend Clarks for a modular (or manufactured) home purchase!!!

Thank you ***! You guys were great to work with and we LOVED helping you design your custom ADA home!

The company has two people in charge of sales and follow up. Both have no idea how to make a customer satisfied. We had many things wrong with the home when it delivered and not once did they say sorry you are have problems. It was our responsibility to list the problems and turn it over to them to be fixed. They have a contract that they follow and do no additional work. Not once did they come out to our home to see the problems that we had. They do not do a good job of following up on the problems to let you know that they were done or when they were going to send someone out to fix it.Asking a question about the home requires them to check with the factory. The company is owned by Malley Construction of Mt Pleasant who they want you to use to do all the septic and foundation work. The home foundation was set to low and has caused an erosion problem. I would not recommend using ether company.

Continued lack of communication, misinformation, bad product outcome, other issues with contracted work.
Process started Aug2016
Digging started June2017
We have continued to receive incorrect or incomplete information from *** (***) Knickerbocker. The on-site workers relayed to us that this was also an issue for them. On site work was done so poorly the first time around, most of it had to be done a second time to fix issues. Inspections failed numerous times. Several days/weeks no work was done at the house.
Currently Nov2017 and finally getting close to completion. We originally were told the driveway would cost $5200, we are not satisfied with the work. My husband cleared the driveway himself, *** workers poured 22A gravel on top, smoothed it out and that was it. Gravel company denies they sold *** the gravel. *** claims they did more than pour 22A and smooth it. My family was on site when the work was done so we saw that was all that was done. I requested we be charged for the cost of product, delivery, and spreading. I was then sent a nasty email saying they will not assist us anymore with the driveway and "how dare I accuse them of stealing gravel tickets". The gravel company themselves stated they didn't sell the gravel to ***. *** also threatened to put a lien on our home because of the request I made in regards to the driveway. We were told we can no longer email ***, only call on the phone but she is not available via phone. Additionally, the owner of the company, ***, would not return any phone calls until we threatened to stop paying. He since has called my husband twice in regards to MY emails, he will not call me though in regards to MY emails. I am not comfortable with the fact the gravel company states they never sold *** Construction any gravel.

Desired Outcome

I am requesting information on materials used for the driveway since the gravel company stated it didn't come from them, I would like to know where it did come from. I would like to be charged only for the material and labor that was done. I am requesting that when I bring up an issue, Brad, the owner, does not call my husband. He should only be called if he is the one bringing up an issue.

Clarks Manufactured Homes Response

In response to complaint #***. We have provided the receipts for the gravel & sand in question. The customer was quoted & charged for 64.81 yards and 76.90 yards of gravel were hauled and installed. 60 yards of sand were hauled and installed after stripping top soil and installing culvert. The driveway has been compacted twice. Pictures show no issues.
The customer closed at their bank May 3, 2017. We have provided a timeline.
We did have a couple utility hook up inspection failures and these were due to the home manufacturer and have been resolved.
In response to the lack of communication, for example the sales person has over 350 emails dating from March 3, 2017-October 27, 2017, not including emails prior to or after those dates.
The lien was mentioned by the sales person after the customer stated they were not paying the balance due.
The owner did not call the wife since he had resolved the issues with the husband.
This is a cape cod home and does take much longer to complete. Power was turned on August 28, 2017. This is the point when we begin construction. Although we did build and complete the garage immediately following the set of the home. The home is finished with a few minor warranty repairs to be completed in which parts are on order. Final inspection is next week.
We are very proud of our customer satisfaction reputation. It is disappointing to receive this complaint.
Sincerely,

Clark Modular Homes

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The threat of a lien on the home was sent by Tanya after the gravel company stated they did not sell the material and I asked why that was, this had nothing to do with balance due. To this date we have paid for all work that has been completed and waiting for the final information to make final payment.

Communication, yes there have been a lot of emails. Not clear communication between Clark staff/crew. And consistent miscommunication and wrong information given to us.

Clarks Manufactured Homes Response

All issues have been resolved. There are a few manufacturer warranty repairs to be completed once parts are received.

An over all review of the company is that they are not a business that will give complete satisfaction. They start out strong and make many promises. But, they fail to deliver.
