After a $180k reno project with Classe ([redacted]), we felt completely burned. We couldn't wait to get the project completed and have him on his way. He was slow, used the cheapest sub-contractors he could find (and not to save time, just to save money for himself), and the work required constant supervision and inspection by myself. He would try and convince us that "poor quality" was standard and completely acceptable. He was soft on contractors. With all of that, he was expensive. Not forcing him to itemize every piece of the project was our mistake, and not forcing a transparent "cost-plus" agreement was ours too.
Two years later, there are cracks in the addition's ceiling, separation of new granite from walls, and more.
We have just recently learned that new main sewer line they installed from our house to the city main has zero fall to it. This line runs directly underneath all of the new addition and will cost $10k+ to fix. He denies any responsibility.
