Review: On 12/19/13 Eavers replaced our tires and 08/06/14 we had to buy new ones because those tires that had almost no tread on the outer edges and the car aquaplaned on the interstate. We were very fortunate not to have caused an accident. The older tires they removed are still on our van and show no wear on the outer edges - the new tires on the car also are without wear. [redacted] explained that the wear was probably due to installation but refunded $120. The cost of the tires was $276.78.Desired Settlement: I want Eavers to refund the outstanding $156.78 as there is no indication that the wear was caused by our vehicle. The new tires which have been properly installed are as good as new.

Response:

In response to the complaint by [redacted]:The complaint arises from a service performed nearly 2 years ago, with an alleged necessary repair that occurred nearly 16 months ago. New tires were purchased and installed on a 1995 Buick LeSabre. The tires formerly on the LeSabre were then installed onto a 1993 Dodge Caravan, at the customer's request. Tread wear on the outer edges generally results from two causes. The first, and most likely, cause is misaligned suspension. The way to remedy this is with an alignment, which adjusts the toe and camber of the wheels. The second possible cause of excessive wear to the outer edges of a tire is under-inflation. Every tire that leaves this facility is gauged to the manufacturer recommended specifications for that vehicle. To our knowledge, [redacted] does not refund a customer directly. Refunds are processed through authorized [redacted] dealers to be issued as credits to end-users. If there was a mechanical issue with alignment, that did not occur during installation. If a tire is improperly installed, the wheel will fall off very shortly after installation. Further, [redacted] would not issue a credit because of improper installation, they would not pay for a mistake that another company made. Finally, the total charge for the tires installed on 12/19/2013 was $553.56 for four [redacted] Defender tires. The person filing the complaint stated that four tires cost $276.78.The timing, conflicting claims, and lack of additional information raise serious questions concerning the validity of this complaint. Eavers Tire Pros has not received any complains from this customer over the last 16 months since this incident allegedly occurred. We professionally install hundreds of tires every week and this is the first time we have such a complaint made to the Revdex.com. It is our belief this is an erroneous complaint. If there was extreme wear that required replacement, it was likely due to a suspension out of alignment on the vehicle. We do perform that service here, but we were not asked by the customer (nearly 2 years ago) to perform an alignment. Neither vehicle serviced that day has records of being serviced at this location before or after 12/19/2013.Sincerely,[redacted]General Manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The tires were installed. Only two of the tires were defective amounting to the sum I mentioned. I contacted Eaver's and the person I spoke with said the manager would contact me and offer a resolution. He offered vouchers for service which we did not at that time need. [redacted] at least gave a partial refund, Eavers did nothing. I wrote enclosing copies from the [redacted] mechanic of the receipts for the work replacing tires that Eavers had installed less than a year earlier. I am sick of watching Eavers commercials advertising that they will keep you safe when the tires they installed less than a year previously lacked sufficient tread to prevent us from aquaplaning on an interstate. I suspect if they used a company in order to ensure safe travel and experienced a dangerous defect then watched the company constantly advertising that they would keep you safe, they might feel as I do.

Regards,

Review: My husband and I bought a vehicle from this company and the check engine light has been on since day one and we took it back to them and they told us it was normal for fords to run with the check engine light on. Then we started having other issues so we went back down to the company and they told us we can trade it in for something of equal value then when we went there to do so they told us sorry there is nothing we can do for you we have been put through one loophole after the other with this business. Come to find out it is against the law in the state of california to sell a car with the check engine light on. Now the car is no longer working it has a blown head gasket and we still owe over a year worth of payments on it.Desired Settlement: We would either like our money back or another vehicle

Response:

My name is [redacted] owner of ClassicAutoSales , I purchase all our vehicles and am familiar with the car at time of sale and prior.

Not this vehicle or any other that we sell has ever been sold and the check engine light on at time of the sale . I am at our location 7 days a

week and the only time close to the sale that the [redacted] came back with a minor problem was with a seat belt that was not latching

properly and we purchased and installed another for them . Also all our cars are smogged by independent companies prior to sale and a

vehicle will not smog if the check engine light is on . There are close to 1700 things can kick on a check engine lite . And as a courtesy we

usually send a newly purchased vehicle that a light comes on to one of the smog shops to diagnose it . And yes it is common for a check

engine light to come on for various reasons . But I would never say it was normal for fords to run with the check engine light on .

The [redacted] did indicate they would like to trade there car in about six months after they purchased it but not because of issues but

for a change of car . And there was not much we could have done to take there car in trade because they were still making payments

and there car was only $3995 and most that we had were in a higher price range and the figures did not work out to keep there payments the

same . And this car was purchased 02/13/2012 which is over a year ago . And they also had a 12 month 12000 miles service contract

which if they had problems would have been a good idea to contact . Obviously now that is expired and they have a head gasket problem

and that usually happens if a car is driven hot for some time without looking at the temperature gauge . As with anything mechanical

things happen but they had the service contract and from us day one the car is sold as-is with a signed as- is contract as per California

and DMV law . Thank You
