Classic Lube Reviews (2)

I have reviewed the business's response and accept it insofar as the business has agreed to refund my money.  As for the business owner's claim that no one has ever made a complaint, one need look no further than [redacted], where a legion of negative reviews can be read.  As for the aggressive and deceptive sales practices that I described, what happens, always, upon arrival at this car wash is that the man whose job it is to generate a slip informing the cashier how much money is due immediately tries to get the customer to agree to the most expensive possible wash product; the owner is of course aware of this practice, which other car washes in my experience do not engage in.  On one occasion in the past, I had to tear up the slip in question and demand that the man create a new one, because he had placed additional charges on the slip for services that I had never requested.  This most recent incident was, I believe, the result of this general practice of trying to maximize charges, and not, as the manager named "[redacted]" (sp?), whom I just spoke with on the phone, put it, merely "the stupidity" of the man making out the slip. Thus I will end this complaint but intend not to return to the business.

Review: On 3/*/16, at about 10:20 am, I purchased a car wash service from Classic Car Wash at [redacted]. I was improperly charged an extra $2.50. The $2.50 was a surcharge for vans and 4x4s; but my car -- a Subaru Forester -- is neither a van nor a 4x4. When I paid for the car wash at the cashier, I noted that she had charged me an extra $2.50 improperly. She said that because the man at the other end of the car wash had added this charge, there was nothing she could do. I pointed to my car as it traveled thru the wash and noted that it is not a van or 4x4. She said that there was nothing she could do.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $2.50 plus tax. I also would like the Revdex.com to investigate this business, which generally uses aggressive and deceptive sales tactics.

Response:

We at Classic Car Wash pride ourselves on our customer service so this complaint is very troubling and I believe was the result of simple miscommunication. [redacted]'s conversation was with the cashier who does not issue the charge for service and does not make the determination of when to charge the surcharge or not. Her function is only to collect the money for the receipt presented. If [redacted] had an issue he should have asked to speak to a manger who could have better served him. Classic Car Wash has been in business for over 40 years and we consider ourselves a good neighbor and an asset to the community. We have never been accused of any aggressive or deceptive sales tactics as is the claim here and take strong objection to such an accusation. All this said, I am happy to not only refund [redacted] the $2.50 but also to provide him with a free car wash for his next wash. I offer this not because I feel he was charged inaccuratel y but because our business model has always been to have our customers leave happy and satisfied. We feel this is why we have a 90% repeat customer record. Mr Ryley is welcome to contact me directly to claim his refund and his free wash. As of this date we have tried to contact Mr Ryley via the phone number listed on the complaint but so far have had no response. Sincerely, Mark M[redacted] Owner Classic Car Wash and Lube
