TO:Revdex.com I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint The response from the owner had several facts wrong While the only repair I authorized to do right away was the throttle cleaning and sensor, he was made aware of three other issues with car besides tires - the engine leaking oil, a leaking rear strut and one or two catalytic converters needed based on the diagnostic codesAll of these can be documented by my mechanic's records Second, his quote was for me to buy an engine for $1,plus a few more parts for an estimate of $2,for his shop to do an engine My argument is simply if THIS many things were still wrong with the vehicle when in left his dealership, then what else was "overlooked," whether intentional or notAny number of things could have caused the engine to fail if the car was not properly fully inspected for issues My alternative to him buying the car back is then for him to fully cover cost of an engine replacement including the cost to transport car to his shop, since I do have sufficient evidence that the car was never adequately serviced as his advertising claims I will not ask for the Cat converter or strut repairs, just an engine that turns this back into a running vehicle that is sellable

10 days guarantee only for the vehicle to pass the e-check, which this customer also received.  Her vehicle did pass the e-check and the proof is that she had plates on her vehicle.  In [redacted]'s complaint, she stated that she spoke with Classic Motor Group on 10/23/2014 and 11/04/2014 which is not true.  The only time she contacted us was in the beginning of January of 2015.  We asked her to bring in the car to check it due to her complaint that the "check engine" light was on.  She and her brother came in on 1/20/2015.  We were about to check her car for her, but then her brother started cussing at us and accusing us of resetting the "check engine" light before purchase.  If this were true, the check engine light would have come back on after 2 driving cycles. Also the e-check station would not have passed the car with a reset "check engine" light.  I tried to explain this to them but they refused to believe me and continued with the shouting and cussing, and I had to ask them to leave the shop.  If they can prove the car did not pass the e-check, we would be glad to take care of their issue. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
The response from the owner had several facts wrong.
While the only repair I authorized to do right away was the throttle cleaning and sensor, he was made aware of three other issues with car besides tires - the engine leaking oil, a leaking rear strut and one or two catalytic converters needed based on the diagnostic codes. All of these can be documented by my mechanic's records.
Second, his quote was for me to buy an engine for $1,650 plus a few more parts for an estimate of $2,000 for his shop to do an engine.
My argument is simply if THIS many things were still wrong with the vehicle when in left his dealership, then what else was "overlooked," whether intentional or not. Any number of things could have caused the engine to fail if the car was not properly fully inspected for issues.
My alternative to him buying the car back is then for him to fully cover cost of an engine replacement including the cost to transport car to his shop, since I do have sufficient evidence that the car was never adequately serviced as his advertising claims.
I will not ask for the Cat converter or strut repairs, just an engine that turns this back into a running vehicle that is sellable.

On Saturday 08/15/2015, Mr. [redacted] call Classic Motor Group to inquire about different vehicles on our lot.  He asked many specific questions about the cars and asked if he can see them on Sunday 08/16/2015.  We are closed on Sundays, however I made an exception for this customer since he...

would be travelling for 2 hours to get to my shop.  On that Sunday, he arrived at 9:00 am and test drove 4 different vehicles.  He took his time inspecting each vehicle before deciding on purchasing the 2007 Subaru Impreza for his teenage son.  Mr. [redacted] left the shop at 12:00 pm.  At 12:30 pm he called me and said the "check engine" light came on, however he decided to keep driving home.  The next day I called Mr. [redacted] to check on him and the car.  He told me that the "check engine" light went off by itself and everything else with the car was running as normal.  I told him if the "check engine" light ever comes back on, to call me and let me know so that we can help him out, even though the car was sold "as is".  He called me after a week saying the "check engine" light came back on and that he took it to his mechanic.  His mechanic told him that the car needed a throttle cleaning and a sensor.  He faxed me a copy of his mechanics' diagnostic, which showed that those were the only issues his mechanic stated.  There was no mention of any other issues with the vehicle, including what Mr. [redacted] claimed about the tires.  At the time of purchase, Mr. [redacted] checked the tires himself, and had no complaints.  As a courtesy, because the customer had an issue with the "check engine" light the same day he bought it from me, I offered to repair the car for him if he wanted to bring it back to me, at no cost.  He declined my offer. However, what he did not mention in his complaint, was that he suggested that I pay half of the repair costs that his mechanic quoted him, which in my opinion, was a extremely high cost.  However, I agreed and sent him a check for $225.  On 10/05/2015, which is 39 days later, he called me back and claimed he had an engine failure.  I asked him if his teenaged son was racing with the car, which is a possible reason for the engine failure.  He claimed that his son was not racing, and that his mechanic said the engine oil was full.  During this phone call, Mr. [redacted] told me he understood that he purchased the car "as is" and did not blame me for the engine failure, however still asked if I would be able to help him out with repairing the car.  Supposedly, his mechanic quoted him $2500 for a used engine.  Again, as a courtesy, I took it upon myself to find him a used engine for $1500 that he would purchase.  I offered to pay my next door mechanic labor costs to install the engine for him, even though I had no obligation to do this since the car was "as is" and since the car was in good condition when it was purchased.  I believe I went above and beyond for Mr. [redacted] which no other dealership would do.  All my cars are carefully inspected before posting for sale.  At this time, I decline repurchasing the car back from Mr. [redacted] at any price, however, my offer for installing his used engine, still stands.
