Classic Motors of DC Reviews (1)

Review: We purchased a classic car with the following advertisement "Very nice example of the classic [redacted]. Local three owner car that has been with last owner since 1989. Car was restored in the late 80's to all original specifications and comes with copy of factory DSO showing all colors are correct and was equipped with factory Air conditioning, padded instrument panel, tinted glass and automatic electric headlight dimmer. Was sold new at [redacted] Motors in [redacted], Indiana and also has copy of original Indiana title and all sales paperwork. Has excellent service history and is still in very good driver condition now. Body and paint are quite nice with some minor chips and nicks, chrome is good and interior is in wonderful shape overall. Car has been well maintained and we just did a general service which included new front springs along with new complete power steering gear box assembly. Car was always garaged and only driven on special occasions so is very rust free and real solid underneath with pictures available upon request. She runs and drives fantastic with everything functioning properly and is a real pleasure on the road. Engine and trunk compartments are nice and original with all correct equipment still there. Only 444 of these were made in 1957 and they are truly a unique part of american automobile history in styling. Rare opportunity to own a nicely documented and well cared for [redacted] at affordable price."We received a car that has major rust issues with more than minor chips and nicks.Desired Settlement: Since the car was sold misrepresented the seller needs to purchase the car back

Response:

June 05, 2014Dear The purpose of this letter is to divulge our experience, in reference to the complaint filed on /28/2014 with an ID of [redacted]. Prior to the signing of the sales contract on pril 2014, I had exchanged a number of emails with the customer who shall remain anonymous. Prior to signing the sales contract I had over a dozen different email correspondences with the customer, in addition to a number of phone calls. Throughout these correspondences I explained the condition of the car, I sent pictures of the undercarriage, I scanned copies of the title, and I answered any and all questions of the aggrieved party, and ultimately disclosed our payment information. I would like to note that I stressed to the customers that they should come in and look over the car for themselves or hire a third party to perform a prepurchase inspection before proceeding with purchasing the vehicle. I explained that a week prior to speaking with the aggrieved party, a potential client hired an inspector to look over the car and had decided against purchasing the vehicle because of the amount of work that his prepurchase inspection had noted in his report. Despite my suggestion the aggrieved had decided against both seeing the car in person, and hiring a third-party prepurchase inspection, and the deal was culminated. Regarding written documentation, I have several emails which address specific issues that the car has, Including but not limited to: an exhaust replacement, a cracked window, paint scratches and chips, and over a twenty year old restoration. The vehicle description listed and advertised on our website at www.classicmotorsdc.com included these details for any and all potential buyers to see and take into consideration. My description also advertised the cars age. Being over fifty years old and was correctly advertised as such, is a cut and dry indicator that the cars not brand new.

I

I am rejecting this response because the statement provided by the Merchant isincorrect see attached document. There were no "dozen of emails" He needs to provide copies because I only have 3 emails from him prior to purchase. I have an email from him after the purchase were he admitted to forgetting to disclose the broken windows. He also, said nothing about prior buyer backing out because of the amount of work. The description posted on multiple websites did not disclose the true condition of the car. The attached document has the quote that was posted on multiple websites including his company site. It is still visible on [redacted] at [redacted]
