listed in Ms. Kopp’s  complaint is not a Classmates customer service number.  In order to address Ms. [redacted] complaint, I will need her to provide me with the following information:      - The email address she used to register on the Classmates website,          - The registration number that is associated to her Classmates account, or         - The last four digits of the credit/debit card she claims was used to renew her membership.  I look forward to receiving this additional information and addressing Ms. [redacted] complaint. We are in receipt of the Revdex.com Complaint filed by Ms. [redacted] regarding her
Claim that Classmates, Inc. (“Classmates”) automatically renewed her membership and charged her credit card without her permission....

Classmates provides clear disclosures within the paid membership process that fee-based memberships will automatically renew. Below, I have outlined the process and the various places in which Classmates notified Ms. [redacted] of the Automatic Renewal Program.According to our records, Ms. [redacted] has two accounts on the Classmates website using two different email addresses. One of the memberships is a paid membership and the other is a free account.

Registration Number [redacted]: This membership was created on January 14, 2006, using the email address [redacted]@chartermi.net. This membership has always been a free account and was last accessed on January 6, 2016. A Member Care Representative removed this duplicate membership per Ms. [redacted]’s request on January 25, 2017.

Registration Number [redacted]:  This membership was created on October 10, 2016, with the email address [redacted]@charter.net. Ms. [redacted] purchased a 3-month automatic renewing membership on this account on October 17, 2016.

When Ms. [redacted] purchased her 3 month auto-renewing membership, she was specifically notified on the payment information page of the paid membership purchase process, prior to completing her purchase, that her membership fees were non-refundable and that her membership would automatically renew for the same term each time it reached its expiration date unless she chose to cancel, that her credit, debit card or [redacted] account would be charged $15.00 for each renewal, and that she could visit the “Account” portion of the website to change that at any time. Ms. [redacted] was presented with language on this same page stating that, by clicking the button to purchase, she agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (with hyperlinks to each). A copy of the three-month membership purchase page is attached for your review. The "Automatic Renewal Program" section located under the "Paid Services" portion of the Terms of Service states: "Upon your acceptance of an offer for the purchase of any subscription-based Paid Services, you will be enrolled in our automatic renewal program to help ensure that there is no interruption in your access to such Paid Services. Under this program, you authorize us to automatically renew your subscription at the end of the term of the subscription you purchased, and each subsequent term, for the same term length of the subscription you initially purchased (unless otherwise stated in the offer you accepted). Unless you change your renewal status as described below, at the time of each such renewal you authorize us to charge your designated Payment Method at the then-current, non-promotional price (unless otherwise stated in the offer you accepted) for the renewal of your subscription. If you no longer want to be enrolled in our automatic renewal program, you can change your renewal status at any time by logging onto the Account portion of the Website, clicking on "Account & Billing" and changing your renewal option from "automatic" to "manual". Please note that changing your renewal option in this way will only stop future automatic renewals of your subscription and will not impact any automatic renewals that occurred prior to the date of your status change.”
Shortly thereafter, Ms. [redacted] would have received a paid subscription confirmation email sent to the email address associated with this account: [redacted]@charter.net. This email contained Ms. [redacted]'s membership registration number, the amount Ms. [redacted] paid for her paid membership, her renewal date, and a reminder that her paid subscription would renew unless she chose to cancel by visiting the “Account” portion of the website.
The "Account" section is accessible from nearly every page of the Classmates website and is located in the upper right top portion of the webpage. When a member clicks on “Account,” they will see an "Account & Billing" section listed on the page. Once the member logs into their account, they are presented with information about their paid account, including the length of the term, the expiration date, and their renewal option being listed as “Automatic.” If they wish to switch to manual renewal, they simply have to click on the “Turn off automatic renewal” link.
According to our records, Ms. [redacted] did not opt out of the automatic renewal program and, as a result, her membership was renewed for an additional term and her [redacted] account was charged $15.00 on January 17, 2017 in accordance with the disclosures and the Terms of Service that she agreed to during her initial purchase.
According to the Classmates Terms of Service, Classmates has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have provided a pro-rated refund in the amount of $13.33 on January 27, 217. Ms. [redacted] should note this refund within her [redacted] account within the next 5 to 7 days depending on [redacted]’s internal refund policy. Ms. [redacted]’s remaining Classmates membership has subsequently reverted to a free basic membership.
This information should successfully resolve Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. If your office or Ms. [redacted] has any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Sincerely,

Since the unauthorized publication of my information on search engines re classmates.com info and images is due to classmates.com policies and tools to remove individuals' ionformation at their request fully and properly, Classmates.com is and shall be responsible for contacting search engines such as Google and requesting the information Classmates.com published and/or made available to such search engines through their incompetence, negligence or refusals be removed.

Google permits sites like Classmates.com who house such information on their networks to remove it not only from their networks, but to notify such search engine services and make specific requests for removal of the information published and made available by Classmates.com on search engine results, and should do so when such information and results were made as a direct result of CLassmates.com negligence and refusal to allow involuntary "account holders" to remove this information, where the ability of these victims would otherwise prevent such information being available in search results.

Complaint No. [redacted]
Consumer: [redacted]
We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Mr. [redacted] regarding his claim that Classmates, Inc. (“Classmates”) automatically renewed her membership and charged his credit card without his permission.
Classmates provides clear...

disclosures within the paid membership process that fee-based memberships will automatically renew. Below, I have outlined the process and the various places in which Classmates notified Mr. [redacted] of the Automatic Renewal Program.
Mr. [redacted] purchased a 1-year auto-renewing paid membership on August 11, 2013. On the payment information page of the paid membership purchase process, prior to completing his purchase, Mr. [redacted] was specifically notified that his membership fees were not refundable and that his membership would automatically renew for the same term each time it reached its expiration date unless he chose to cancel, that his credit or debit card would be charged $39.00 for each renewal, and that he could visit the “Account” portion of the website to change his preference at any time. Mr. [redacted] was presented with language on this same page stating that, by clicking the button to purchase, he agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (with hyperlinks to each). A copy of the Classmates paid membership purchase page is attached for your review.
Shortly thereafter, Mr. [redacted] would have received a paid subscription confirmation email sent to the email address associated with his account. This email contained Mr. [redacted]'s membership registration number, the amount Mr. [redacted] paid for his paid membership, his renewal date, and a reminder that his paid subscription would renew unless he chose to cancel by visiting the “Account” portion of the website.
The "Account" section is accessible from nearly every page of the Classmates website and is located in the top portion of the webpage.
According to our records, Mr. [redacted] did not opt out of the automatic renewal program and, as a result, his membership was renewed for an additional term and his credit card was charged $39.00 on August 11, 2014 and every year thereafter in accordance with the disclosures and the Terms of Service that he agreed to during his initial purchase.
It appears from the activity noted on Mr. [redacted]’s membership record that he has utilized the paid membership benefits since his renewal in August 2015. Specifically, Mr. [redacted] has received a significant number of profile visits that he is able to view because he has a paid membership.
Per the Classmates Terms of Service, Classmates has a no refund policy. As such, we are unable to offer him a refund at this time. Per a telephone conversation on May 11, 2016, a Member Care Representative changed Mr. [redacted]’s automatic renewal status to manual and his current paid membership will expire on August 11, 2016. Upon the expiration of his paid membership term, his membership will revert to a free, basic membership. If he would like to remove himself from the Classmates website at that time, he can use the following link to delete his information from the website: https://secure.classmates.com/auth/removemember.
Should your office or Mr. [redacted] have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I do not believe that this company has no idea where these 5 particular yearbooks (1963-67) came from.  They more than likely got them at the same time and any responsible company would keep records of that.  I want them to track down where those books came from and get back the original books, whether they are separated apart for copying, or not, and have that company return them to their rightful owner, [redacted].  If they cannot do that, then Classmates need to send her a copy of each of the books (at their expense).  Even their poor copies would be better than nothing to her.  These books were obtained illegally and not with Ms. [redacted] knowledge.
As far as their "clearly stated" claims of the quality of the copies goes...it WAS NOT clear.  They have NO phone numbers posted anywhere for customer service, or I would have called to ask my questions before ordering this book.  I tried many times to go to the web but every single link leads you back to their sorry excuse for a website.  They say that I had all that contact with classmates which turns out to be a lie.  There were never any meaningful communications.  It just sends you around in circles.  This company needs some drastic steps taken to get them to stop scamming people!!
I appreciate that they have offered to refund my $74.95 for the awful copy they sent to me.  However, until they resolve the problem of the other 4 books, I will wait.  Please have them follow through with returning the books to my friend so we can put this incident behind us!!
Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I am informing you that Classmate.com did not follow thru and did not unlock the account.  The settlement would have been acceptable had they followed thru and enacted the terms of their offer. They lied and committed fraud to finesse my complaint. Classmate.com is a scam. It remains unresolved and the offer is not satisfactory. I would ask that you reopen the complaint based on Classmate.com inaction.Sincerely,[redacted]

I was able to find the picture Mr. [redacted] referenced in his complaint. Once a user clicked on the photo from the Google image, the user was taken to the Classmates.com website where the picture was used as the cover of a photo album Mr. [redacted] had previously had on the Classmates website. If the user clicked on Mr. [redacted]’s name, however, the user was notified that this profile no longer existed.

This membership was previously deleted and the membership record indicated there wasn’t a picture associated with this membership. Since this is not normal expected site behavior, I followed up with our internal development team and had the photo removed from the backend.  We’re currently looking into this situation and will fix any bugs we discover in the course of our review.

As referenced above, Mr. [redacted]’s photo no longer appears on the Classmates.com website.  However, Mr. [redacted] may still see his photo on the Google image results page for a period of time.  In order for his photo to be removed, Google will need to re-index these webpages and update the information they have cached. When and how often our webpages are re-indexed is beyond our control and is based on Googles’ internal policies and algorithms.

Although Mr. [redacted]’s photo may still appear in Googles’ results for a time, please note that clicking on his name will no longer link to a page on the Classmates website that contains Mr. [redacted]’s image. For further assistance with removing Mr. [redacted]’s name from the search engine, I have attached Google’s “Remove Outdated Content” Help Page.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause Mr. [redacted] and if he has any questions or concerns he can email me directly at [email protected].

Sincerely,

According to the Classmates Terms of Service, Classmates has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have provided a refund in the amount of $15.00 on August 14, 2017. Ms. [redacted] should note this refund on her account within the next 30 to 60 days depending on her financial institution's billing cycle. Complaint number: [redacted]
Consumer name: [redacted]
We are in receipt of the Revdex.com Complaint filed by Ms. [redacted] regarding her claim that Classmates, Inc. (“Classmates”) automatically renewed her membership and charged her credit card without her permission.
Classmates...

provides clear disclosures within the paid membership process that fee-based memberships will automatically renew. Below, I have outlined the process and the various places in which Classmates notified Ms. [redacted] of the Automatic Renewal Program.
Ms. [redacted] purchased a 2 year auto-renewing paid membership on April 26, 2014. On the payment information page of the paid membership purchase process, prior to completing her purchase, Ms. [redacted] was specifically notified that her membership fees were non-refundable and that her membership would automatically renew for the same term each time it reached its expiration date unless she chose to cancel, that her credit or debit card would be charged $59.00 for each renewal, and that she could visit the “Account” portion of the website to change that at any time.  Ms. [redacted] was presented with language on this same page stating that, by clicking the button to purchase, she agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (with hyperlinks to each).
[redacted] would have received a paid subscription confirmation email sent to the email address associated with her account. This email contained Ms. [redacted]'s membership registration number, the amount Ms. [redacted] paid for her paid membership, her renewal date, and a reminder that her paid subscription would renew unless she chose to cancel by visiting the “Account” portion of the website.
The "Account" section is accessible from nearly every page of the Classmates website and is located in the top portion of the webpage.
[redacted] did not opt out of the automatic renewal program and, as a result, her membership was renewed for an additional term and her credit card was charged $59.00 on April 26, 2016, in accordance with the disclosures and the Terms of Service that she agreed to during her initial purchase. Additionally, there is no record to Ms. [redacted] contacting Classmates prior to April 26, 2016 either by phone or email. A copy of Ms. [redacted]’s membership record is attached for your review.
According to the Classmates Terms of Service, Classmates has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have refunded Ms. [redacted]'s membership in the amount of $59.00 on May 11, 2016. Ms. [redacted] should note this refund on her account within the next 30 depending on [redacted]’s internal refund policy. Ms. [redacted]’s Classmates membership has reverted to a free, basic membership. However, if she would like to cancel her free membership she can use the following link to remove herself from the website: https://secure.classmates.com/auth/removemember.
This information should successfully resolve Ms. [redacted]'s complaint. Should your office or Ms. [redacted] have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Tara M[redacted]
