Clayton Homes of Tazewell Reviews (1)

Review: We bought a new 2015 mobile home from Clayton Homes of [redacted] in October of 2015. Through out our 10 month stay in our new home we have come across 35 different problems some of them are just cosmetic problems but some of them are structual problems that Claytons's contractors informed us if not address in the next coming years they would lead to more significant problems such as leaking and so forth. In our master bathroom and kitchen the linleoum floor already has crack lines from falling down into the sub floors and visible holes in both floors. Our living room outside wall has a visible sway in it to the point of when it rains there is a three foot wide gushing waterfall coming off of our house. In result of the outside living room wall having a bow in it our inside living room wall also has a bow in it. Both of our living room windows are crowned too high, our back door framing was not installed properly and will not allow our door to close all the way. The door to our main bathroom door near our living room will not line up correctly when shut because the door post is twisted. In the same bathroom the sheet rock on the wall has a bubble near the top, and the base to the sink is built crooked. In our first bedroom the door post is warped really bad and the door will not line up when shut. Main entrance door the wall has a bow in it above the door. The second bedroom is suppose to have 16 inch centers and in one spot where there is staples where there should be a stud either the sheet rock has pulled away from it or there is not stud there because you can just sit there and push on the wall. When we contacted [redacted] a general manager for Clayton concerning the floors he said they would give us $2,000 dollars to fix the floors with a contractor of our choice but when presented him with the rest of the problems Clayton's said that if we were to take the deal for the floors that Clayton would not fix no more problems and we would be responsible to fix it out of our own pocket.Desired Settlement: We would like all the repairs fixed right to the satisfactory of us the customers who bought a brand new house from Clayton's . When purchasing a new house you should not come across this many problems and the company who manufacture the home not be willing to stand by there product and the item the sold you and fix it.

Response:

On this compliant, the home center service department and manufacture have gone above and beyond to meet satisfactory needs with said customer. I have had the factory out to visit the home site several times for repairs as well as my service crew along with them. The bow that they say is above the front door is in tolerance with it being a load bearing outside wall and with all the corrections that have been put into place , there isn't anything further that may be done and maintain it in tolerance. There isn't anything that I can do to make it any better than what it is now. The home is beautiful but unfortunately nothing is perfect and anything man made will never be perfect.I have cut a check to them in the amount of ($2,000.00) Two Thousand Dollars, as requested by the customer. The customer stated that this would make it right for them, me, the manufacture and my service crew.We have gone above and beyond to meet satisfactory with the customer and in no way, shape or form not done a great job.[redacted] General Manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We do not accept the 2,000 check. We was told by [redacted] ,[redacted],and a office worker that the check was for the floors only. And it was not our deal has [redacted] said it was . And that anything that the factory and us had already worked out would be fixed. The factory crew had already wrote down what else needed fixed. And they are saying from [redacted] office there saying neither is going to fix my house now. Regards,

Response:

I try to do the best job that we can. They weren't happy with that so we will go above and beyond and everything they had a problem with we will try and reimburse them. Because I truly want to have happy customers that does business with Clayton Homes. We will be cutting a check for $5,000 and the [redacted] will be signing off that they will complete all future work, there will be no future warranty coverage.
