Those jeans say DO NOT DRY CLEAN on the tags, so we would not dry clean them. I did not want to ruin the $1,000s of clothes of other customers’. We would not dry clean them. When you use heavy starch, they are not dry, because they have to be wet when it’s done. They only... shrink when they dry. I took the jeans to my seamstress who measured the jeans and they did not shrink. We could have reprocessed them and dry cleaned them, meaning he needed to sign a release, and he did not want to do that. The jeans were not dried so they did not shrink. We tried to offer him free cleaning and bargain with him, and he was getting louder and louder and just wants money. The jeans are not ruined. The jeans might have been mismarked by the manufacturer, in which case if you just call them, they will usually reimburse you. We did not shrink these jeans, and our hot water heater is broken, so we only use cold water.

I remember the discussion I have had with this customer. We both discussed the suit jackets and he tried to show me where the suit jackets had shrunk. I am in the business of dry cleaning and gave a very careful examination of the suit jacket and could not detect any shrinkage. I
also consulted with another expert who is a seamstress and she noted that there was no "bubbling, puckering, stretching or shrinkage" of the fabric of the jackets was not present nor was there any difference in the lining sizing and the fabric of the jacket as a result of the tailor's measurements taken of the jackets. There are also discrepancies in whether the jackets are new as stated in the beginning of this complaint and then "almost new" at the end of his complaint. I feel that possibly the customer may have gained some weight and the suits do not fit the same as when he purchased themWhat is also odd is that he did not state that there was any shrinkage in the slacks of the suits which since they are made of the same fabric and were dry cleaned at the same time with the same machine as the jackets, there should be also shrinkage in these items. Also, we have not received any shrinkage complaints from other customers. Finally, this store has a new dry cleaning machine that does not cause any shrinking. It is a state of the art dry cleaning machine.I understand that he is upset but we are not responsible for the way the jackets fit at this time. As a courtesy to a regular customer, we would be willing to offer some coupons for free cleaning

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I had taken back the suit jackets to the dry cleaners because the collars on both the jackets were all crumpled and deformedI did not know then about the problem that the cleaner was having with shrinking of suits etc because of their now machineOnly when the employees suggesed that I try the jacket to see if it is shrunk did I try it and find out that the jackets had shrunkI came back home and tried the pants of the same suit and they have shrunk tooI had suggested to the owner of the cleaners at the time of my conversation with her on the phone (after I returned the suit jackets) to bring similar suit jackets of the same size and same manufacturer (Jos A Bank) to compare the size of the shrunken jacketsShe rejected that suggestion immediatelyAll my years of wearing suits, I have not seen my suits shrink in sizeEven if they do as the owner is claiming, then similar jackets from the same manufacturer should have similarly shrunk in size too.
Sincerely,
