Complaint ID# [redacted]
On October 1, 2013, a TV was dropped off unpackaged for Clayton’s
to ship to Mr. [redacted].  We were told Mr.
[redacted] purchased the item on [redacted] and were asked to package it for shipping.   Our
staff took a lot of time to make sure the TV was packaged and boxed properly.  However, once the package leaves our shop how
it is handled is out of our control.    Mr. [redacted] was called and informed how much the
packing charge was and asked if he wanted to insure the item.  The insurance covers not only damage but loss
as well.   Mr. [redacted] declined insurance,
which at that point, we should have refused to ship it.   Mr.
[redacted] provided multiple pictures f the damaged television.  He also stated that he had numerous pictures
of the unopened box it arrived in but has yet to provide any.  The pictures we received were of packaging
that had already been opened- from which was impossible to tell the arrival
condition. If the package looked damaged at the time of arrival, knowing what
was in it; Mr. [redacted] should have noted the damage on the delivery ticket or
refused the shipment.    Mr. [redacted] was informed numerous times that
since he did not insure the package, the most [redacted] would pay for loss would be
$100 and there was no point in filing a claim.  Rather than waste time and money filing a
claim Clayton’s offered Mr. [redacted] the $100.00 that would have been awarded to
Clayton’s if [redacted] found the claim valid.
We spoke to our [redacted] representative several times concerning this
matter, but since the item was shipped without any insurance the most [redacted]
would allow would be the $100.00.
Mr. [redacted] is looking for $6000 to repair a plasma TV that is
almost 10 years old.  As the price of
technology on plasma TV’s has dropped dramatically over the years, it is
difficult to understand how Mr. [redacted] is demanding Clayton’s pay that amount of
money to repair a TV you can now go out and purchase at [redacted]  for $800.00.
It is also difficult to understand why Mr. [redacted] would refuse to insure
what he is calling a unique item that he was shipping across the country.  Clayton’s has also asked Mr. [redacted] for a copy of
the [redacted] listing which he has yet to provide.   Without a receipt, it cannot be assumed that
the TV was even in working condition at the time it was shipped.
Attached is the original invoice for the packing supplies and services as well as a letter authorizating Mr. [redacted] to persue the claim with [redacted] directly.
Thank you,
Clayton's Mercantile Supply

Review: On 1 October 2013, I contracted Clayton's to pack and ship a television across the country. I placed the order over the phone; at the time of purchase, I did not receive a shipper's agreement nor an invoice for their services. On 4 October, [redacted] delivered the package to my address, but the television was improperly packed and sustained almost $7,000.00 in repairs. I contacted [redacted], the person that I dealt with over the phone originally, by email immediately to inform him of the damage. I immediately filed a claim with [redacted]. However, the claim was eventually disregarded because I was not the shipper, and thus had no right to file a claim for damages. After calling and emailing, [redacted] and [redacted], the C.E.O., over the following months, we are no closer to a resolution. After being accused by both of them for causing the damage myself, arguing over the fine points of the "optional insurance" that I declined at the time of purchase (in which [redacted] limits their liability to $100.00 regardless). In December 2013, Mr. [redacted] contacted me via email asking if I would settle this matter for $100.00 "to settle this matter." Thus bypassing the [redacted] claim's process where they make a determination of damage. I contacted Mr. [redacted] stating that I would like to go ahead with filing the claim through the necessary channel on my behalf, and would kindly decline his offer of settlement. I requested a status on my claim's process over email on 2 May 2014. The response from Mr. [redacted] was a blatant refusal to file a claim for the damage despite having an obligation to do on my behalf. Despite having requesting photos of the damaged item and the original box, they have refused to file.Desired Settlement: I would like Clayton's Mercantile Supply, Inc. to email me a signed waiver stating that as the shipper, they are giving me the right to file with them despite being the receiver. This will allow me to continue with my [redacted] claim. I would like a written breakdown of their packing and shipping fees as billed on my [redacted].

Review: Charged 3/26 $3587.76 told 3 weeks for delivery product not delivered.

Time-sensitive storage racking needed for a new building. Was assured 3 weeks delivery, charged 3/26 - told last week it would be delivered, then wasn't. Told Wednesday 4/24 this week that it came in on truck and would be delivered 4/25 by [redacted]. Didn't hear from [redacted], called no answer. Called and spoke with someone else named Mike on the phone who said it didn't come in and there was nothing he could do, was not helpful. I said I wanted to talk with the manager or supervisor he said he would let him know. No response. I emailed [redacted] letting him know how unacceptable things were going and explained I wanted to talk with a supervisor, manager, etc. I got an email back from [redacted] saying the earliest we would now get the delivery is Monday 5/6 but no call or response from a manager or supervisor. I'm writing this now because I would like to speak with the manager or supervisor about this issue.Desired Settlement: I would like to speak with a manager, supervisor, etc about what's happened and what will be done about it. I literally can't take in freight until we have storage racking in place. This sets us back two to three weeks. Will it be delivered 5/6 or 5/7 guaranteed? We had planned on having a carpenter build the decking for the racking out of plywood and lumber, can we get a good price on some 42" wire decking for our trouble? It would save time by not having to build decking. I asked [redacted] by email no response.... not sure what's going on. Please give me a call at your earliest convenience. Thanks, [redacted]

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/05/06) */

On our order# XXXXXXX, for Customer "[redacted]", our manufacturer specified a certain lead time on material and failed to deliver on said lead time. Our customer, "[redacted]", was upset and filed a grievance with the Revdex.com. That morning, Tuesday 4/30/2013, I spoke with [redacted]. We had a nice conversation and I apologized profusely on behalf of Clayton's. In closing, I offered to sell him some wire decking that he was in need of at our dealer cost in order to appease him. He graciously accepted and we now await delivery of his product in order to fill his order so that both Clayton's and [redacted] can move on from this.
