Clean Cut Movers NYC Reviews (6)

Review: We had a signed contract with Clean Cut Movers to provide us with a truck and moving services on 8/*/13 from 8am-9am at our current location on the Upper West Side, to be followed by unpacking at our new location at [redacted]. On 8/*/13, I received an email from [redacted], an employee of Clean Cut, that the scheduled truck broke down, and they would not be able to arrive at the schedule time. Clean Cut was able to locate a new truck, and we agreed on a new scheduled time of 9am-10am on 8/2/13. At 10:34 am I received an email from Clean Cut Movers that the moving truck broke down on "the bridge", and notifying me that they would probably have to delay my move to Sunday, or Monday, because of moving restrictions I have at my new building in Brooklyn. I informed Clean Cut that this was not an acceptable option because 1) it was too late to find other movers to help us today, 2) my wife is seven months pregnant, and has been ordered by her doctor to avoid strenuous activity, which I believe would include moving our stuff, 3) it was a clear breach of contract (a contract that included me paying $50 to secure the contract, and a reliance by us for services expected to be rendered that were not) and 4) my building does not allow moves on Sunday, and my wife and I are both out of town on Monday. Clean Cut responded by ensuring us they could find a truck today, which they were unable to do.Desired Settlement: We plan to sue Clean Cut in court. We would like their shoddy business practices updated on Revdex.com's website so that other consumers do not use their services.

Absolutely absurd.

Review: I used this moving company about a month ago and the movers seriously damaged a number of items of furniture. Including torn upholstery of a couch, broken lamp, scrapes on a bookcase, etc. At the time the movers said to contact "[redacted]" about getting reimburse. In their policy prior to moving it was stated they would wrap all items in plastic and this was NOT done, resulting in the damages. Since then I have place multiple calls and emails, with no response.Desired Settlement: The moving company needs to reimburse me for the damages that were a direct result of the violation of the contract - where furniture items were not wrapped and movers were careless. Specifically the couch needs to be re-upholstered which would be the bulk of the cost.

Review: Clean Cut Movers has shady business practices. They made a bare minimum effort to make sure all of my furniture is moved in, insult you, embarrassed me in front of your new neighbors, left my furniture sitting out on the street and their [redacted] defended and enabled their unprofessional behavior as well as lied about giving me a refund.

As the movers were moving my couch out of my old apartment, I gave them a head's up that the entrance to my new garden apartment was a bit tight and that they might have a little trouble getting the couch through the front. The lead mover told me not to worry and that he had seen all sorts of difficult moving situations and that there was a solution to any problem. Sure enough, they could not get my couch through the door of my new place so I mentioned that I could talk to my new landlord who lives upstairs to see if he would let them take the couch up through his parlor, out into the patio and in through the backdoor of my apt. The lead mover then took one of the couch cushions, put it up against the back doorway (the long way) and told me that "if this cushion doesn't fit through then the couch won't fit through" and walked away from me. I asked his partner for measuring tape but he never brought any back. When I asked the lead mover for measuring tape the second time, his temper escalated at record speed and began to yell at me telling me that there was no way that couch would fit through. I asked him "how do you know if we haven't even measured it?" His temper became even more explosive. I told him that I wasn't trying to argue with him but was simply trying to have a conversation and asked him why he was getting so angry. He told me that I was asking for the impossible and that I was harassing him and his partner. He then called me a "[redacted]." After a series of more insults, I paid him his money, gave them a $75 tip and told them to get out of my face. He continued to scream out "you're a [redacted]" (amongst other obscenities) as he walked away and told me to quote him on those insults and proceeded to spell out his name. When I called his [redacted], he told me that the mover has been an employee with the company for 7 years and that I must have said something to upset him and that he would have cursed at me as well if he was in his shoes. He then asked me in the classic fashion of a manipulative bully: "Wouldn't you cuz at someone if they insulted you." I told him that I would never treat a customer that way, regardless of how I was treated by them because it is unprofessional and I would be fired for such behavior. He continued to defend him but said that he would refund some of my money...I have yet to see that money.

I called my new Landlord upstairs. The older gentleman helped me take the couch up to his parlor, out into the patio, we turned the couch on its side and fit it in through the back entrance without a problem...it literally took less than a minute to get it through the doorway. I should have saved myself some money and stress by hiring a different moving company. There is nothing "clean cut" about these guys.

on 5/**/15, my negative review was mysteriously removed from [redacted] and a list of positive reviews with compliments to that particular mover appeared. Very shady indeed.Desired Settlement: I would a sincere apology from the owner, [redacted] and employee as well as a full refund of the money paid them including tip.

We are in the process of dealing with this client. The series of events noted by client is inaccurate but we're happy to always make a situation right.Thank you.

Review: I used Clean Cut Movers on July [redacted], 2014. Two of my items went missing after the move - a silk rug ($600) and the playstation ($400). Total value = $1,000. I have text messages from the driver saying that he knows they were in the truck but that he doesn't know where they disappeared. He said he can't confirm if someone snatched them. Isn't it the movers' responsibility to make sure the items are attended at all times so that they don't get snatched?!

I called and emailed them multiple times and they kept putting it off saying 'we'll get back to you' and they never did. That was a month ago.Desired Settlement: A refund of the value of these items ($1,000).

Sincerely,

Review: I recently moved apartments and had hired Cleancut Movers to facilitate the move. They were schedule to arrive between 12PM and 3PM on July [redacted], 2013. However, by 2PM the movers had still not arrived. We contacted the moving company and explained to them that we needed to have all the furniture out of our old apartment by 5PM as the union would not run the freight elevator past that time. By 4:00PM no one from the company would return our phone calls. Hoping they would still come, we agreed to pay the elevator works the contracted amount of $50 an hour for each hour they stayed past 5:00PM. Cleancut Movers eventually returned a call a little before 5PM saying they were still coming. They finally arrived a little past 5PM. The rest of the move went very smoothly. The movers were fantastic, and we appreciated all their help! Once they arrived, the men were proffesional and efficient. After we were moved in and began to unpack, I noticed that several items were missing or broken (a shelf and lamp were missing, and two mirrored tables broken). Although they originally agreed to replace the lamp, I have received several conflicting stories as to what happened to my missing shelf. There has been no clear solution offered in regards to my broken tables. I have repeatedly called the management company and sent numerous email to try to resolve this issue. I have sent pictures of the broken pieces. I have received conflicting responses from almost everyone in management I have spoken to; the only consistant response I have gotten has been the clear tone of hostility.Desired Settlement: I just would like a refund for my broken items, my lost items, and compensation for the freight fee which was incurred due to Clean Cut Mover's tardiness.

Sincerely,

Review: - On July [redacted], 2014 I hired Clean Cut Movers to assist me in my move out of my former apartment on [redacted] to my current apartment on [redacted].

- Prior to the move Clean Cut had quoted me a price of $495 with an additional charge of $5 per extra box/bag not disclosed prior to the move. Clean Cut also required a $50 deposit to be paid via [redacted] prior to the move. As per their disclosure, this deposit would come off the final bill ($495 - $50 = $445).

- When the clean cut movers arrived they informed me that 1) the deposit would not come off my final bill (at the time I was unable to confirm the disclosure as my computer was already packed away) and 2) I would have to pay an additional $60 for the disassembly of my bed (was later able to confirm that this was originally disclosed in my original email).

- These charges alone account for an extra $110 that Clean Cut overcharged me for.

- Clean Cut damaged numerous items during the move including: 1) two crushed lamp shades ($75 per lamp) 2) a very large nick out of the wood on my tall dresser ($650) 3) a smaller nick on my larger dresser ($980) and 4) cracked ceiling lamp ($250).

- Photo proof is available for all items

- In total I have sent 17 emails dating back to August [redacted], 2014 with little to no response from Clean Cut. I have also called numerous times with no call back from Clean Cut - they have simply ignored my complaintDesired Settlement: I would like Clean Cut to refund my in total what I paid them for this move. Aside from blatantly ripping me off for $110 they have also damaged in total value much more than they cost of what I paid them to move me.

Payment to Clean Cut was: $495 + $50 (deposit) + $60 (bed assembly) + $75 (additional boxes) = $680
