Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 14034402, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
The day after I put in the complaint I received an email from the company that the battery had shipped, I did receive the battery and have notified the credit card company also. This complaint has been cleared up. Thank you

This is the third time dealing with a defective battery, and equipment. In this case the battery shorted and could have caused a thermal event. This is highly dangerous and the company wants to consider this my fault. They state based on pictures I sent them there was sand and obvious salt water in the battery... I don't live near the salt water, and this device was made to ride low on the bike and between my legs. It should be water tight, and it is not.

They have a re-call on this unit. They want me to pay to replace it.
They have caused me to miss work as this was purchased as my main form of transport. It is unreliable, and I want the battery replaced free of charge, or refunded in full for the purchase of the bike.

Hello,

The response I had originally written was a bit longer than the allowable character limit. As such I have attached it as a Word document titled Revdex.com Complaint Response. Please let me know if that is not suitable. If so I will condense my response and resend.

In short, we have done our best to help this customer over the year since his purchase and would like to resolve our standing with the Revdex.com while discontinuing any relationship with the customer. We will offer to cover return shipping of the two batteries in the customers possession. Once received at our facility we would offer the customer a full refund in the amount of his original purchase.

At this time the retail value of the number of free warranty replacements this customer has been given exceeds the price paid in their purchase.

Please let us know if you require any further details.

Best wishes, Mark ***

The customer has not reported that the mechanical operation of the bicycle is faulty in any way. Only the electrical system is in question. The bicycle itself has high quality mechanical parts, not effected by the electrical components, that are in perfect mechanical operation, meaning that the customer can in fact still ride the bicycle as a simple machine by just pedaling. The customer has had months to secure other forms of transportation via local public transit or others if needed, if not pedal the perfectly functional mechanical bicycle. We have no reason to believe that the freely given alternative battery pack has any functional issues other than that it has simply not been used. The customer is welcome to keep the complete and functional mechanical bicycle. We only wish to secure the batteries in question. We would even be willing to issue the refund as soon as tracking numbers can verify that the batteries are in transit to our facilities. This offer would expedite the refund to the customer should he accept the generous offer.Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Send the boxes for shipping and I will put them in and get you tracking. Then issue a refund.

To answer your questions about securing transportation. I work 8-10 miles based on the route to my work, and to think I bought a bike that could help me at least half way there due to my inability to ride in 90 degree weather with high humidity would be a servere risk factor. Public transit? Are you kidding? There is none out here by me! Why, if I bought in good faith a bike that I thought would RUN IN THE RAIN would I want to secure other transportation? I paid a good amount of money for that bike, and now it does peddle but is useless for me as a commuter to work.

The Ranger Battery sent was charged in full and the bike works for 1 second then failed, runs then fails. That should sound familiar. The system is fried, and it's not my fault. Let's be clear. This system is in recall because of a fault. It's not able to work in the rain. I rode it maybe 6 times in the rain before failure. Sorry, but it's just not working and I'm incredibly stressed about it. Why would I lie? I just want a working bike.. My wife just went and purchased one today that was over priced but, it will work. In the rain.

Kind regards,

***

PS: Please contact me to remit refund after tracking numbers are issued for the battery shipments.

I had issues with my bike in the rain, and their team stuck with me, with their great communication and willingness to do everything and anything to make this work.
I use my bike to commute to work, and though stressful, they made an incredible effort to get me back on the saddle and bike working great. I don't know any company that would bend over backwards to help a customer like myself.
I'm thankful to them.

Failed after covered warranty expired!!!
Dakota Lithium batteries were a downgrade not an upgrade!
2 of the 3 Dakota batteries failed to charge before the 2 year mark.
The lead acid batteries they replaced lasted 5 years. So under the same operating and charging schedule these batteries lasted less than 1/2 the time of comparable Solid Lead Acid Batteries.
The only reason I purchased the Dakota batteries and paid 3 times more was because they should have lasted longer than the SLA's. These batteries were advertised as having a longer service life compared to SLA's.
Of course, these batteries failed after the covered warranty, so the company would do nothing to repair or replace them.
For the time the batteries were working and charging, they worked fine. The extra run time was only slightly better than the SLA's. I, also, liked the lighter weight of these batteries, but the extra cost was not justified due to the short lifespan.
I purchased 3 of these batteries and had them connected in series for 36 volts to run an electric lawn mower.
So if you are in the market for this type of battery, I would recommend sticking with a solid lead acid battery. This was my first purchase of a lithium replacement, so I am unsure if another brand would be any better.
The Ukko Dakota brand from Clean Republic (Hill Topper) is not a reliable brand. I'm thinking there is a problem with the BMS system on the battery. Too bad this company does not stand behind their products!
I hope this review helps out. I wish I would have stuck with the standard SLA batteries and not wasted my time and money on these. Now I'm forced to order yet another set of batteries. This time they will be SLA.
