Review: I contracted with the business to have my chimney cleaning on April *, 2014 and provided a $200 deposit. I was told that their administrator would be contacting me by the middle of the next week to set up the appointment. The week went by and I did not receive a call, I finally called the administrator on April [redacted] and left a voicemail to please call me back and schedule the appt. I was contacted the next day and was given an appt for May [redacted] for the outside work and May [redacted] for the inside work. Both of these days were rain dates and I contacted them to see the status, they said with the rain coming they would reschedule. I did not receive a call back until May [redacted] and I was left a voice mail that said I was rescheduled for May [redacted] and [redacted]. No one showed up on either day and I did not receive a call that they were cancelling. I received another voice mail on May [redacted] that the work was being rescheduled to the following day May [redacted]. No one showed up. I called the company on Monday June [redacted] and got the answering machine, I left a voicemail stating that I was frustrated with the fact that despite all the reschedules no one had shown up to perform the work and I was never contacted by the company for any of the cancellations and I just wanted my deposit refunded and to part ways. I received a call back from the company June [redacted] and was told that because they had already purchased the material needed that they could not refund my deposit and offered to reschedule a [redacted] time. I said no that their customer service and communication was horrible and I just wanted my money back. I was told no. I asked to speak to her supervisor and I was told there was no one else to speak to.Desired Settlement: I want my $200 deposit refunded to me.

Review: November **, 2008 Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners came out to my house to clean my chimney.

[redacted] or [redacted] told me my liner in the chimney was bad and if I did not replace it immediately I would risk having my house burn down. That I needed to immediately such down my furnace if this is not done or I could risk burning down my house. Also, if he came back another day rather than this day to do the repair work, the cost would double. It was winter and was told we had a critical situation. I called my husband at work and he spoke to [redacted] or [redacted] of Clean Sweep Chimney. We agreed since this was such a critical situation, he should do the repair work as we had contracted that day.

He wrote a contract to replace the liner, remove the slate on top of the chimney and replace with a new custom stainless steel cap. All is in writing and signed. That contract can be provided.

On 5/**/13, I had a reputable Chimney Company come out to clean my chimney. He found that there were several issues, faulty work and incomplete work done to our chimney. (1) The liner was replaced but not bolted. This could eventually result with the liner falling into the chimney causing a serious problem such as clogging our furnace and fumes entering our house. (2) The slate on top of the chimney had not been removed and replaced with a cap. The slate still exists on the top of the chimney as can be seen by the pictures I can provide. (3) The installation of a new custom, as stated in our contract, had never received or installed. The new cap was to replace the slate over the top of the chimney which would prevent animals and debris from falling into our chimney.

We paid in full on 11/**/08 by American Express. We did not receive what we had in our signed contract with Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners . I can also provide the estimate from this reputable Chimney Company dated 5/**/13. It states the work which is required to be done to our chimney as evidence of what had not been completed by Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners. I have several pictures showing (1) the liner sitting on top of the chimney and not bolted, (2) the original slate which was to be removed still remains on top of the chimney, and (3) a new custom cap had not been installed to replace the slate on top of the chimney.

I immediately phoned Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners on 5/**/13 and spoke with [redacted]. She was rude and stated she would get back to me the next day. To date, I have not yet heard from [redacted] or anyone from Clean Sweep Chimney. She pretty much hung up the phone on me.

I understand from internet feedback today from others that they run this scam on trusting homeowners. There are others who were taken by Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaners. I can provide pictures, copies of the original contract and copies from the new chimney company stating what work is required to be done. I have spoken with a second chimney company who also has stated the same issues to me and will be following up with their review to me in writing in the next couple of weeks.

I followed through with American Express and [redacted] has told American Express that they have tried to contact me which is false. That the new chimney companies have taken apart what they put together on my chimney to give the new companies work. That is totally false. As you will see by the pictures I can send in that the 200 lb slate on the top of the chimney still exists. There is no new cap installed as agreed and a new cap could not be installed with the existing 200 lb slate on top of the chimney.

I have also been educated by the two chimney companies I am now speaking who informed me that structure work cannot be performed on a house without a building permit from town hall. Clean Sweep Chimney should have instructed me to obtain a permit from town hall and town hall would then come out to inspect during their process of work. Town hall would then have caught these issues and not allowed them to do faulty work and this scam would not have occurred. The two new chimney companies have informed me that they will not work on my chimney until I show them a building permit from my town.

The two chimney companies I have been speaking with also informed me that reputable companies do not drive around with chimney liners and caps in their truck. They must be ordered to specifically fit a chimney. Due to this, work is scheduled and not done that same day.Desired Settlement: Refund of my $1,500 paid for work not completed along with a chimney cap not installed as contracted.

Review: Clean Sweep installed a new damper in my chimney, and cleaned it. The work was done well, and my interactions with the team were all positive until after the job was complete.I was not home when the work was done. When I returned home in the evening I realized that the tech had broken three of my acrylic fireplace logs. I called him on his cell, and he confirmed that he did in fact break them. The tech advised that they'd reimburse me. I subsequently ordered new logs and assumed someone would follow up. After contacting the tech several times and him advising he'd call back with no return call, I called the office. They advised they'd call back. Several conversations occurred, each time with them saying they'd follow up. During my last conversation with the office they advised the [redacted] was aware, and asked that I email the $220 receipt, which I did. Subsequent calls and an email have been unanswered.Desired Settlement: I would like reimbursement of $222.26, which was the cost to replace the broken logs. A detailed receipt was provided to Clean Sweep on 5/*/15.
