to the people of Clearwater Meats I owe a big apology.My 1st review was wrong.After I got done eating crow, I sat down and ate a porterhouse steak from Clearwater meats and it was one of the best I have ever had. They do a great job and I hope they are around for years. Cant wait for my next steak. I HIGHLY suggest giving them a try. I know now what a good steak is. Sorry guys.

I brought in a deer to be processed by Clearwater Meats. I asked them to only cut the back straps into chops and trim everything else well to be later processed into summer sausage by another company. When I picked up the meat 10 days later, I noticed an excessive amount of fat in the bulk bags. I asked Tim, one of the owners, and he said it would grind up fine. A couple days later, I opened the bags and discovered an excessive amount of fat that had not been trimmed off. I asked three different companies (2 local) and showed them pictures on whether or not they could process it into sausage and everyone of them said either I would have to pay for them to trim it or I could trim it myself. So I trimmed the excess fat myself. I contacted Tim afterwards to notify him of this and he first said that he would grind it into sausage, which I did not want their sausage. I told him I already trimmed it and then I said I would like half of my money back, and he replied 'I do not give a bleep what other processors think? and was only willing to give $30 back. This is absolute poor customer service with the vulgar language and unwillingness to admit that a job was poorly done if three other companies including two local and one on the other side of the state refused to take the meat in unless it was cleaned better.

Desired Outcome

Refund I originally asked for half of my money ($40), but due to the poor customer service, vulgar language, and refusal to meet my asking of half back, they can send me a check in the mail for the $40 I am asking for back. I am not asking for everything back because they still did the quartering and removed the hide which they should be paid for. I will not set foot on their property to put myself in a harsh environment nor will I waste my gas money driving there.

This complaint has been reviewed and has now been decided that there will be no refund given. The customer paid for a basic bone out service which includes skinning, boning out of the deer and cutting into steaks, roasts, chops etc. All the rest is generally ground into burger or made into sausage. It is not our responsibility to spend endless hours trimming meat for some unknown standard from a processor across the state. The parts of the deer that were in question are impossible to trim to this unknown standard without throwing half the deer away. Also there has never been a problem with any local processor since we have a great relationship with all of them.
*** did not mention that he threatened to cancel an order he had placed for a half beef if we did not refund half his processing bill. Our company will not deal with those kinds of threats and immediately cancelled his beef order.
We also have never provided a "Harsh" environment for this customer to not want to step foot on our property, so saying so is rediculous.

If Tim N kept copies of my order(written by N), the order stated to chop out the back straps and bulk bag the rest with another comment to trim well (also written by N). I didn't pay to have steaks or roasts cut, I paid for my venison to be well trimmed that could be made into sausage elsewhere. Zero threats were made to N, only a statement made by myself if he refused to refund half of my money then I told them to cancel my half beef. Throwing an entire neck in the bag without trimming off any major fat is not trimming well, it's a poor and lazy job. This was not done to any of the processors standards in our area or one across the state. Therefore I did not receive the product that I paid for. The businesses that refuse to listen to their customers will fold.

The real question is, if there are so many processors that actually had a problem with your meat then why didnt you take your deer to them? They could trim it right to their standards and throw half your deer in the trash can since the neck and shoulders and forearms are nothing but silver skin pieces of meat. Oh wait.... none of these processors cut carcass deer anymore? Does anyone wonder why? It's because they have had 1 too many ***s. Regardless of what we do or dont do theres always a problem. If we would have trimmed it as much as you wanted us to, we would be on this Revdex.com site arguing why we stole your meat. Its completely senseless to waste everyones time, be a normal person and go find a different processor.... if there are any more that will take your products.
