Clearview Federal Credit Union Reviews (4)

It is our practice to mail 12 months of payment coupons at a time.  Each year, another 12 months of coupons are automatically generated and mailed.  If a member runs out of coupons or misplaces them, we will gladly accept a check payment without a coupon.  The coupons are offered for...

our member’s convenience.    We do work with a third party vendor and per our agreement are unable to order coupons for the life of the loan.  For this member’s convenience, I have manually created payment slips for the life of the loan.  These will be mailed out to the member.   A savings account is required by Credit Union to become a member.  This member does not actually have a checking account with us, nor did we ever require this.  We do require a savings account with a minimum of $10 to establish Credit Union membership as only members are eligible for loans.  Clearview did credit the $10 to this account in order for the member to join and take advantage of our auto rate.

The credit union has not received proof of full insurance coverage
for Mr. [redacted]’s vehicle for the period of 3/3/14 to 4/27/14.  We have contacted [redacted] and our member’s
insurance agency in the past and the insurance information that they provided
to us began on 4/27/14.  The...

manager at
the insurance agent’s office sent a letter stating the member had coverage
beginning 3/3/14, but did not verify that the vehicle was fully covered with
liability and comprehensive insurance.  We
attempted to contact the agent to verifying full coverage, but have not
received a response.A copy of the vehicle policy information was emailed to the
credit union from [redacted] Insurance on 11/3/15 showing that the vehicle had
not been added to the loan until 4/27/14.We can issue a full refund for Mr. [redacted] when
documentation is received that the vehicle had full coverage from 3/3/14 to
4/27/14.

Review: Clearview charged me a premium in the amount of $434.00 because they claim I did not hold insurance for the first month of my auto loan, I believe to be April 2014. Since then I have contacted them several times, as well as my insurance company, stating that I did in fact have coverage. Furthermore, they have received validation through email and fax confirming the fact that I did have insurance before, during and after the purchase of my vehicle. I have been fighting to have this fee credited for well over a year and it has still not been resolved. The credit union keeps stating that my insurance company has not provided ample proof of coverage, even though my insurance company has contacted them and provided any information that the credit union has requested.Desired Settlement: I would like for the credit union to credit my account in the amount of $434.00, which is the full amount that was erroneously applied to my automobile loan. I would also like written confirmation showing the credit applied/ deducted from my automobile loan balance.

Review: Bank neglected to notify me that a properly submitted instruction to block all transactions from a specific company was able/due to expire. I was not informed at any time, before, during or after the request had expired, that the block even did in fact have an expiration date. Following the unknown expiration of the block, I was charged $105 in NSF fees when this specific company tried to charge my account. When I refused to pay the $105 in fees Clearview closed my account and referred my debt to a collection agency. A call to [redacted] ext. [redacted], in Clearview FCU Collections did nothing to remedy the situation. It seems that the bank willingly accepts requests to block certain charges to an account, but neglects to notify its customers if/when these blocks expire, resulting in substantial and unfair fees to the customer.Desired Settlement: NSF fees refunded. I would also like for the company to disclose their time restrains in relation to blocking transactions to customers who are in the same situation as I am.

Response:

A request to block transactions from a specific company was received on 11/22/11 from Mr. [redacted] and a stop payment was put on these transactions for a period of 6 months. The member is responsible for notifying the company processing these payments to stop future payments.

[redacted] spoke with our collections department on 5/22/13 and was advised that he would need to contact the company processing the payments that caused the NSF fees to stop future payments. He was also advised that if he gave them his account and routing number he was authorizing these debits.

The Membership Agreement given to the member when an account is opened states: “Stop payment orders are effective for six (6) months and may be renewed in additional six (6) month periods by requesting in writing that the stop payment order be renewed within a period which the stop payment order is effective. We are not required to notify you when a stop payment order expires.”
