I am writing to you because there are several areas of your work on my patio that I am not happy with and other areas that I have been made aware are not properly done.
Areas where I feel that you should have been more careful:
1) Stepping stones were destroyed by the track vehicle. You should have informed me that this would happen and I would have moved them and could now re-use them.
2)The area around the patio is now littered with broken pieces of the old patio making planting very difficult.
3)There are spatters of concrete on deck boards and even on the sliding glass for which is 10 feet from the nearest edge of the new concrete.
4)Areas where the track vehicle destroyed the grass were not completely seeded and covered with straw. I had to finish that job. Also grass seed was carelessly thrown into beds where I had to remove it.
Areas of shoddy workmanship:
1)After a rain, water pools against the short edging. This should have been anticipated. I had to have a drain drilled to alleviate this problem.
2)The large concrete slab crowns too sharply and too steeply This causes fast run-off of rainwater resulting in erosion of the mulched bed into the lawn and down to the shoreline.
3)There are no joints in the 14 1/2 ft x 25 ft slab to allow for expansion and prevent cracking. I have been informed that joints should occur every 10 ft.
4)The step down from the main level is still too steep.
Additional work that is being done because of these problems:
1) Drainage around the slab to prevent erosion.
2) Joints are to be created to prevent cracking of the large slab.
3) Additional step installed.
Michael, I expected that spending $4600 would result in a project that would not cost me more money to repair. At first glance the patio is an attractive addition. But on closer inspection there are major problems which are estimated to cost $4000 to repair. There is no way I could in good conscience recommend your company to others. I expect a response from you concerning my disappointment with your company's work.
Soon as the homeowner reached out to me I reached right back to her this is the first time she has responded to me with any problems. I did inform her the patio had key way in it that acts as a joint. Also the quote I give her was strictly concrete work and a sitting retaining wall. It did not include back fill or landscaping around patio I did put out grass seed but this time of the year it's so hot it's almost a waste of money until fall. We would of been glad too do whatever she wanted done. During the project I spoke to her several times asking if she liked it and her opinion she would respond and was happy with everything she paid me and I moved to other jobs if she would of reached out to me I would of been happy to fix the few small things.like the concrete splatter sometimes depending on what concrete company you use they put pot Ashe in there concrete it stays a dark color a lot longer until it turns white which makes it harder to see splatter on some materials. I was glad to do her job but it wasn't easy tight back yard and I don't think she understood the construction process I had to bring in equipment
