Cleveland Community Veterinary Hospital Reviews (1)

I bought my dog to Cleveland Vet for surgery. I was given a price which the breeder who sold me the puppy was going to pay. they billed him too much.I brought my dog to Cleveland Community on [redacted] to have surgery on his front leg. I was given a price of $250 total for the procedure. The day of the surgery I was told it was $420 total for the procedure. I asked why the price increased $170 and I was told because a biopsy was added to the price. I told them I did not want a biopsy and to remove the $170 from the bill. The receptionist stated "Ok. Mr.[redacted], we will remove the biopsy from the price and the total will now be $250". My dog is a puppy and because he is still under warrantee the breeder who lives in Georgia is going to pay the bill. My dog had the surgery but they called the breeder and charged his card $420 for the procedure. When I asked them why they added the amount in. They stated that it is a necessary charge! Basically they told me the surgery was $250 but then billed the breeder $420 once they got his credit card number. They have refused my phone calls and will not refund the breeder the $170 in fraudulent charges. Desired SettlementI would like for the breeder to be refunded the $170 in fraudulent charges for the biopsy.Business Response On 6/11/14, Mr. [redacted] presented with "[redacted]", his 5 month old American Bulldog. His concerns were to receive a Rabies vaccination and to investigate the hairless, 1/2 " circular, raised mass on "[redacted]'s" right forearm. Mr. [redacted], in a rather brash manner, made it clear the breeder would be responsible for charges for veterinary services on "[redacted]" concerning the mass. As many times as he stated that, I told him that we do not get involved in third party payments; that is between you and the breeder. Despite this, when owner called to schedule "[redacted]'s" mass removal, the owner provided breeder's number for us to call for payment collection the day before the procedure. Breeder was explained the total payment included anesthesia, the procedure, medications, and the biopsy. Breeder had no complaints and provided his credit card number for the approved procedure. When owner dropped [redacted] off the morning of his procedure he confirmed that the breeder had paid. At that time he was also informed that the breeder had paid for the biopsy. Given that the owner was aware before the procedure began that the breeder was charged for the biopsy, and that the financially responsible party has not contacted me to dispute charges nor did he have any complaints when payment was collected, I fail to see why there is an issue after services were rendered. The exact services and prices that were quoted were performed. This is precisely why we prefer not to do third party billing. I am therefore at a loss for his concerns, as this procedure was done in the best interest of his dog and was approved by the appropriate financially responsible party, the breeder. In fact, Mr. [redacted] had asked me at the 6/11/14 appointment to type something up for the breeder. I did, for the edification of both parties and it included the recommendation for a biopsy. It was explained to the owner why the biopsy was necessary: to confirm mass was a histiocytoma. Ironically, I thought that submitting the mass for biopsy would avoid arguments between owner and breeder if (and when) there is another mass. Everyone would already know what the first mass was and whether or not there was going to be an ongoing issue/treatment plan or not. Outcome:Would like matter dismissed due to the fact that procedure was approved by responsible party and owner has no grounds for complaint. I regret that due to the demands of my business, I was unable to return his phone call in a more timely manner. However, Mr. [redacted] could have spoken to me at discharge or 14 days later at suture removal.Sincerely, [redacted]
