See attachment for response. [redacted] purchased a 2007 Chevy Suburban, [redacted], from us on March 21, 2016. She brought it back to us and said she thought it was burning oil because she could smell oil. She said the light-Stop Engine/Engine Oil Low- would flash, We had agreed...

to fix a few things at the time of purchase (I have enclosed a copy of that form) so during the time we had it to service the promised items, we checked into the burning oil. We could not find any leaks or any reason it would be burning oli so we didn't do any repairs or maintenance as far as the oil was concerned. She called a few days later and said it was still burning oil so we told her we'd look at it again. We looked at her vehicle several times. Each time she brought it back claiming it was still burning oil she had always recently added oil so it was difficult to make a diagnoses. As I mentioned before, there were no leaks, so we couldn't determine any problem. We offered several times to trade her out of the vehicle but she and her husband declined, saying they would rather keep the Suburban. The last time she brought it in we called the Chevy dealership. We told them she smelled oil burning and claimed the oil was constantly low. We told them there were no leaks and she didn't find and oil on the drive. They Suggested we replace the driver side valve cover. They said it was a very common problem with the complaints she was describing with no sign of leaks. We replaced the valve cover and everything was fine. She did callback and said the tire pressure light came back on. We told her we had the receipt for the tire pressure sensor we had replaced, that it was still under warranty and we'd be glad to replace it for her, We never could get that scheduled because she said she just didn't have the time.We didn't hear from her for months and then out of the blue, she and her husband showed up with a bill from a Chevy dealership, well over one thousand dollars wanting me to reimburse them. As I mentioned before, we had not heard from her for months and we asked why they hadn't contacted us when they started having a problem again. They said because they hadn't had the problem in such a long time, they thought it was fixed. But when it happened again, they figured they'd just take it to a Chevy dealer to be fixed because they had purchased an extended warranty. The [redacted]' proceed to tell me that the Chevy dealer said the rear main seal was leaking and that was their problem the whole time. They had the Chevy dealership make the necessary repairs, The next morning when they went out, there was a puddle of oil under the vehicle. The repair shop apologized to them saying they tried to reuse the same seal and to bring it back and they would replace it. explained to them from looking at their repair bill, that they were originally charged to "replace a sea". They said they were going to go back to the dealer repair shop and see if they could be reimbursed. never heard anything else from them until 1 happened to run into [redacted] at the bank a couple of weeks later. I asked if she got anything resolved and she said they never went back because they did eventually fix the problem and everything was fine and the truck was running good. A few weeks after that, she called and said the truck was doing the exact same thing again and the Chevy dealership is now telling them it is something different, The warranty company said they will cover the claim if it is in fact what has been diagnosed. However, the customer is responsible for the break down diagnosis charge. We apologize for any inconvenience the [redacted]' have had with the Suburban. We offered to trade them out many months ago and they  declined. We also repaired all the things promised on the "We Owe Form". We tried to replace the tire pressure sensor but [redacted] said she didn't have the time to let us do that. Cliff and Sons has done everything we said we would and more, with no charge to the customer. Once the vehicle was taken, without our knowledge of a problem, to a different mechanic shop and worked was performed by them, all obligations on our behalf ceased. They do have an extended warranty and I would definitely suggest they go back to the repair shop that charged them a significant amount of money to fix their problem. We cannot take on any obligation to repair items that have been either incorrectly repaired or misdiagnosed by another mechanic shop and regretfully, we cannot issue any reimbursement for the repairs made by another mechanic shop.[redacted]Cliff & Sons Auto Sales

See attachment for response in its entirety.[redacted] and [redacted] purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 from us on September 19, 2015. They came in and took the vehicle for a test drive. They liked the vehicle and wanted to purchase if we could fix a couple of issues. We addressed the issues and they...

were put in writing on the "We Owe Form". [redacted] and [redacted] agreed, signed the paper work and the deal was completed. We agreed to touch up a couple of spots on the vehicle and do a full buff on it. I have included a copy of the paperwork that is signed by both [redacted] & [redacted]. As for the warranty, we offer a 30 day/1000 mile warranty on the Motor and Transmission where we agree to split the cost with the customer. After purchasing the vehicle, they told us the light came on and they took it to be checked and were told it was the catalytic converter. We informed them that we are not equipped to work on catalytic converters. They then asked about the warranty and we reminded them the catalytic converters are not motor or transmission related and therefore are not covered. I have included a copy of the warranty that is signed by both [redacted] and [redacted] as well. Cliff and Sons Auto Sales has made all repairs/issues that were addressed on the "We Owe Form" at the time of purchase. The [redacted]'s drive the truck and were satisfied with everything other than the addressed issues and purchased it. Cliff & Sons has fulfilled everything that was promised and is guilty of no wrong doing. Sincerely,[redacted]yCliff & Sons Auto Sales

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The reason why we did not take it back to cliff and sons for the problem to be fixed was because it had in fact been in their shop several times and the problem was not fixed. They are also wrong they did not fix everything in contract. And yes they did offer a trade and we took them up on it and the one car we were interested in they sold right underneath us. And also they couldn't make a fair even trade in our favor Bc we were getting [redacted] out of the warranty either way. I had to have a big nice car for my job I am a [redacted] for a [redacted] plus my own child I wasn't going to take just anything after paying 18,000 for a vehicle which also come to find out we paid about 2,000 above blue book for but again I put trust in them but never agan I will never send anyone to cliff and sons I feel that we were treated very unfairly and obviously it's all about the money to them which I get we all have to make money but you would think human decency would over rule in this situation.
Regards,
[redacted]
