Thank you for the response Please note that Mr*** *** continuously
places the onus of knowledge of the tile on the consumer, i.e., myself Henotes that the tile is rated for "outdoor" use. Please ask Mr*** to specify, what, precisely this means I am especiallyinterested in the specifications of the tile that I purchased that are relatedto five areas: 1) Grade, 2) PEI Wear Rating, 3) Water Absorption, 4) AND THISIS CRUCIAL C.O.F(coefficient of friction) rating, and 5) Frost rating. All tile manufacturers and suppliers have access to these ratings for alltiles Consumers are typically unaware of these and it is, in fact, theresponsibility of the supplier to call to the consumer's attention, anypotential risk that could be associated with the tile beyond simply statingthat the tile is OUTDOOR rated. While the tile that I purchased may have had a rating of "outdoor," such adesignation is general and vague without the factors as noted in 1-above.Please have Mr*** provide the actual specifications from the tilemanufacturer that indicate the ratings in the five areas requested.Sincerely yours,*** ***

In June Ms*** came into my store and requested tile to cover her front porchWe recommend exterior grade- PEI 5-tile for exterior applicationsA salesperson at that time would have shown her the tile
selections for Ms*** to choose. Ms*** chose the tile for her porch, Arpa Palace color Blue x
On June I went to Ms***'s home to measure the porch for the tile that she choseIt was a concrete porch with areas of loose concrete that would need repaired before installation of the new tile
I prepared an estimate with the total cost of the job, material and installationShe requested we order her an additional box of tileHer total was now $
Ms*** agreed to proceed with the installationWe require a deposit before orderingMs*** placed her deposit and we proceeded to order the material
Installation took place on August 16, Please see attached photos of completed work
The first time that Ms*** contacted us regarding her concern of the tile being slippery, I went to her home to inspect the problemthis was in the fall/winter I do not have record of the exact date, however, there was ice built up on the tile -coming from the side of the house onto the porchThe ice was approximately 3-inches thickI explained to her that the ice was making the tile slippery I suggested to use kitty litter to help with the slipperiness instead of using anything caustic that could damage the tileI also told her that to my knowledge there was nothing topical that would adhere to the tile to make it less slippery for her
In fall of Ms*** came into the store stating her concern about the tile being slipperyA salesperson listened to her concern and told her that she would discuss the concern with me and contact the manufacturer to see if there was anything they could recommend, and if so, we would contact her
The salesperson did contact the distributor of the tile, who confirmed that the tile was approved for outdoor useThe distributor could not make a recommendation as to what to use, if anything, to make the tile less slippery
The salesperson researched information online to try to find a solutionThe information found was as follows
Slip Guard Systems Inc
http://slipguardsystems.com/brochurecover.shtml
Another product that could be used is grip-stripsThese are self adhered strips that have a grip on one side
http://allstairtreads.com/gritstrips.html
I am not comfortable recommending any product that I do not have experience withTherefore, I could not recommend to Ms*** to use such a product with the concern that the product may damage the tile
Ms*** contacted the store by telephone on April 11, She spoke with ***, the store manager
She stated her unhappiness with the store and that the store did not respond to her complaint She stated that we sold her a tile that was not suitable for outdoor use and that we are not standing behind our sales. She stated that she forgot to use kitty litter and a child had fallenShe claimed that using kitty litter doesn't solve the problem and it makes a mess in her house.
*** explained to her that the tile that we sold to her was suitable for outdoor use, according to the manufacturer and that although there may be products available that claim they can help with the slip issue, we are not familiar with these products and cannot recommend to use them. *** told Ms*** that she would let me know that Ms*** had called with her concern
Ms*** stated that she would be posing her dissatisfaction of Yelp
We realize that Ms*** has a concern for the tile being slippery, however, we did not sell her an unsuitable product. We can only make recommendations of proper products to use, and we did thatEach customer is able to feel the products that they are choosing before purchasingThe final decision on the product purchased is the customers
No tile is slip-proofWe cannot control rain, ice, snow, or any elements that may cause the tile to become slippery
Any product that the consumer chooses to apply to the product is of their own choice
Thank you,
*** ***
