response to a complaint filed with the Revdex.com The Professional Code of Ethics, under which I practice, prohibit me from discussing this matter without the taxpayers written permission other than to acknowledge information the taxpayer has already disclosed In my professional opinion, the complainant has omitted pertinent facts that, if disclosed, would provide a fuller understanding of the facts and circumstances of the matter The signed Engagement Letter articulates and delineates the specifics of the engagement. The completed income tax return was delivered to the complainant on April 4, 2017, well within the filing due date During that meeting the income tax return was gone through in detail with the complainant, and any billing issues discussed and explained Any subsequent contact (either through voicemail or e-mail) was not to discuss additional concerns or to identify discrepancies in the completed income tax return The focus was her belief that she should only have to pay $2## for the preparation of the income tax return, which was already discussed on April 4, 2017. I have re-reviewed the income tax return delivered on April 4, The income tax return reflects and is supported by the information provided by and facts gathered from the complainant in our initial meeting and in subsequent contact. The $tax preparation fee is not egregious or unreasonable for the level of professional services provided to prepare a complete and accurate income tax return The fee is well within the tax return preparation fee survey estimates provided by the National Society of Accountants and CPA Practice Advisor of $- $for income tax return preparation similar to the complainants. I can accept her initial offer of $284.10, not because I believe that it is a fair exchange for the professional services provided or believe that the services provided were substandard, but so that I may better focus my time on serving my clients Regards, Dee C***
