Clinton Animal Hospital Reviews (%countItem)

A Well Exam for my dog, Zoe ***, was scheduled via phone on 04/29/2020. I was forced to wait in my vehicle while two hospital staff came out to my vehicle. The 1st person I gave the reason for the visit, including a nail trim, a small lump on her home quarter, and the exam. She appeared to write down everything I told her, on the back of her hand. She left and another staff member came out to take my dog in to the facility for the animal well check. After speaking with that person for several minutes about the services and cost of each, I told them what I wanted done besides the well check exam: the exam itself, nails trimmed, fecal exam for intestinal parasites, heartworm test, lump checked. They brought my dog back to me outside after less than 10 minutes. They trimmed her nails and told me to wait about 10 minutes for the heartworm test results. They offered me no details of the exam. I had to ask several questions to find out what the exam consisted of. I gave them my bank debit card after the staff person told me the total cost. The staff person came back out with the test results, my bank card, and my invoice. Again, I asked more questions regarding the exam and the staff member appeared to get frustrated. I mentioned that I didn't like not being present during the exam so that I and the doctor could discuss the exam, etc. so I had to ask these questions. Again, they brought my dog to me, and 2 medications, heartworm prevention tablets for 2 months, and 3 syringes with liquid medicine to treat hookworms per the fecal exam. When I returned home, I called the same facility and spoke with the office manager, Joy, about the exam to ask her what it included, and what was the approximate age of my dog and in what condition were her teeth in as none of these were listed on my invoice. Two days later, I called and spoke with Joy about a couple of issues that weren't addressed but she told me to find another vet. My dog's ears were full of black exudate and a skin tag was not addressed.

I have provided,in detail, information is my complaint of the services I received and what was not done that should have been. I mentioned that I paid for a Well Check at this facility but they did NOT complete the exam which was apparent since my dog's ears were full of globs if black exudate. I have no idea what the exam consisted of but I do know it wasn't a thorough dog exam. I mentioned also in my original complaint that I had to ask many questions about the exam which were not completely answered. I was not present during the exam so I can have conversation with the vet. I called in the phone so they can remedy this situation of not checking my dog's ears which it is 100% obvious that they did not and to look at the skin tag or whatever it is that they should have found during a thorough dog exam. The office manager would not even hear me. She hung up on me I want to know for a fact who did the exam It could not have been done by a licensed DVM and if it was, I will report that doctor to the board of veterinary medicine of South Carolina. In short, NO, They did not service my pet.

Clinton Animal Hospital Response • May 13, 2020

Ms. came in for a scheduled appointment 4/29/2020 for her dog Zoe. We are not allowing anyone into the clinic during this time of the pandemic in order to protect our staff and clients. One of our technicians went out to the car and spoke with the client regarding what Zoe needed to have done that day. Ms. then proceeded to call into the clinic and spoke with the office manager regarding prices for services that she wanted that day. After a lengthy conversation, Ms. agreed to the services. The dog was brought into the clinic, as per our current policy, and was examined by the veterinarian and the services she requested was given. The technician went back out to the car with the client's dog and thoroughly explained the findings by the veterinarian. The next day the client called back and spoke with the office manager and was upset about not being able to come into the clinic. The office manager explained to the client why we were taking the precautions due to COVID-19. The client was unhappy with that policy. She then questioned whether the dog had been examined by the veterinarian. The office manger confirmed that the dog had been examined and proceeded to read to the owner the notes written by the veterinarian. The following day the owner called a second time and once again complained about our precautions and questioned once again what was done for her pet by the veterinarian. At this point, the office manager informed Ms. that it would be best for her to find another veterinarian to provide services for her at this time. Ms. began yelling at the office manager who ended the phone call at that time. Ms. paid for services rendered at the time of her appointment.
