Bought a Ford Taurus 98 on 08/11/2013 for $1000.00. I was told by the seller it only needed a new battery. On 08/23/3013 the car completely broke down and was told by the mechanic the car was worthless since the transmission was shot. It would cost up to $2,500 for a new transmission.Product_Or_Service: Ford Taurus 98Desired SettlementWhat I paid for the car, $1,000.00Business Response We checked our records and this individual did not purchase a car at Clouatre Motors. Maybe you should ask her to check her purchase and sales agreement to see whom she bought the particular car. Any further questions call [redacted] at Clouatre Motors, XXX-XXX-XXXX. Thanks. Final Consumer Response Thank you so much for your hard work with this case. It came to a resolution. I have been talking to [redacted] who ran [redacted] and he was very nice and thought this was all silly. He refunded me my money and I have enclosed a copy of the check that I cashed. He said he would pick up the car this week. Yes, this case is closed and resolved! Thank you Again, [redacted]

This car has been back to dealership 4 times for engine light. My parents purchased a 2000 ford focus (used) from [redacted] Motors on Dec 4,2013. When they tried the car out the engine light came on and they said they would fix it and we could come back for test drive. We did and the light was off. They said they replaced a o2 sensor. Dec 9 I returned the car because engine light was back on. They said they replaced o2 sensor again. Engine light came on again brought it back Dec 13. They said a vacuum hose was replaced for a leak. They also put a sticker on the car without our permission as I would have preferred to take it to a mass. state inspection station. And they said they drove it 200 miles to make sure the light didn't come back on. On Dec 20 brought the car back because the engine light came on again. This time they said they replaced a intake gasket. And now the car is back for the engine light again. I brought that back in Jan 4. Clouatres has the last 2 times had someone else work on it. They have not given us anything to say that it was worked on and or what is wrong with the car. On Jan 9 my dad went and talked to the garage that the car is at now and the mechanic said that he hasn't had time to even look at the car, that [redacted] just dumped off on him on the previous Monday Jan6. Then dad went to clouatres and the salesman told him that the garage looked at it but hasn't worked on it. When my dad told the salesman that he just spoke to the mechanic and he had not looked at it the guy got really angry and walked out. When my dad asked about a loaner he refused. The owner is out of town and will not make any decisions till he gets back sometime next week. In the mean time I see a back specialist and have therapy. With this car out of commission so much,my mom has had to leave work on several occasions and now her job is on jeporady. We just want our money back so I can get a reliable vechile to get to my doctor appts. I cannot trust this car. My parents paid 100.00 down and then a bank check for 2650.00. Our understanding is that when they work on the car they are supposed to give me a copy of the work order, which they have not done.Desired SettlementWe want our money back, and nothing to do with these people again. We also would like to get our sales tax and registration fees back.Business Response in regards to this complaint the check engine light indicated an o-2 problem that in no way was ever a safety issue.Following procedures indicated we located and replaced /repaired (4) seperate contributing parts to the 0-2 problem, at no cost to the customer.I do not feel this is in any way a violation of the lemon law Thank You [redacted]Final Consumer Response Consumer indicated they have heard from the company, but the issue has not been resolved. Comments follow below:My Dad called the owner on Monday January 27. [redacted] ([redacted]) refused to buy the car back. He told my Dad that the engine light is not part of the lemon law and we can just take him to court. In ma. you cant get a sticker if your engine light is on because that means something is wrong. He had a sticker put on the car without our consent and we wonder why. Did he have his mechanic shut it off long enough to sneak it through? Bottom line is he refused to take the car back!

Was sold car,had multiple problems with transmission and engine. Dealership failed to notify me car was a total loss, affecting trade in value.Purchased this a 2001 Ford Focus from [redacted] Motors in August 2012. With in two weeks I started have transmission problems. The shifter wouldn't lock into park, and the keys would be stuck in the ignition, the rear drivers side door stopped opening as well. When I called the garage I was told to bring it in. I brought it in and the mechanic went underneath it and said the push rod looked bent. I brought it back home with no repairs. Called to schedule the repairs. We brought the car back, and the owner told me there wasn't much they could do for the ignition other than graphite the cylinder, and he was going to charge me $100 for the warranty costs. I told we only bought 3 weeks ago and that it was a transmission problem not an ignition problem. Well we left. About a month after that the transmission started slipping, and the car had some very bad vibrations going on. Then the starter went, which I replaced. Then while in Worcester for a civil service exam the serpentine belt blew apart. The car was towed to a garage. The mechanic at this garage said that whoever had done the motor job on this car did so very poorly, and pointed out the bolts used weren't the proper ones. Which had also led to why the belt had blown apart. The entire tensioner assembly had twisted down because one of the bolts had fallen out. The mechanic there replaced the part properly. This cost me $250 for the part and labor, and $75 for the tow. At this point the car was still having transmission problems, and started to express electrical issues. The car refused to start. I replaced the starter after having it tested (it was Bad), however the car still would start. I replaced the ignitions fuses, then the battery cables, and finally the alternator (upon removal found to be cracked). The car was losing power from the battery, and couldn't find out where it was going. At this point my fiance and I decided to get a new vehicle. We found the a car and set up financing for it along with the trade in of the 2001 Ford Focus to help cover the cost of the down payment. I managed to get the car started and running long enough to get it to the new dealership. Upon arriving there the sales manager came out and looked it over. He said that the vibrations were because the motor mount were shot, and he then ran the carfax report on the VIN. He said the car was a total loss in 2010 and showed me the paperwork proving so. In the end I was given $150 of trade in value, with the sales manager extremely hesitant to do even that. I was never told by [redacted] Motors that the car had been a total loss or I definitely would not have bought it as I know this would greatly affect the value of the vehicle, and vehicles that have been wrecked tend toward a lot of issues. I missed quite a bit of work due to the problems with the vehicle, and at one point nearly lost my job until I explained to my boss that we would soon be purchasing a new car. This has caused an exorbitant amount of stress on myself and family, and a loss of money and value on the vehicle its self.Desired SettlementI would like my money back for this vehicle. Total cost of the vehicle was $3200 with tax, title, and inspection. Lost wages due to the vehicle not running as it should of about $450. Cost of parts, garage work, and tows totaling around $500.
