Club Med Sandpiper Bay

The Club Med Sandpiper Bay was NOT a good experience! My office took a vacation here, the resort itself is very outdated, dirty and un-safe (smoke detector was laying on table in our room, there were nails/screws sticking out of the pool decking, etc..). Some of our staff had items stolen out of their rooms, when reported the front desk told them they had insurance to cover this and they would report back later that day, they never did so we went to front desk and was told the only thing we could do is call the police. We were also accused of stealing! Some staff went off the resort property and brought back a watermelon, we had soaked it in an adult beverage. We went to the Market Place to ask if we could borrow a knife and was told to bring it in and they would just cut it for us they even put it on a tray so we could take it out to the adult pool. Later on we were told that someone reported we had stolen fruit (which they do not offer whole watermelons) and a tray from the kitchen. Watch out for the adult pool if you go, you CANNOT take any music or speak too loudly or you will get reprimanded by staff wearing all white. Our first day there, we made that mistake. However, the 2nd day a team of 4 staff in white outfits came out again and yelled at us, we did not even have our radio at the pool that day. It was a few people on the opposite side of the pool from us. I will admit though that the food offered at the Market Place was great!!! That is unfortunately the only positive thing I can say; don't waste your time and money at this place! And don't expect to find much to do because other than drinking and swimming, that is about it. There is a "show" each night which leads into the Bar area afterwards. You would expect a bar to first of all not allow children, but they do. Even during the afterhours party there were kids inside. It was even witnessed by a few of my co-workers kids taking adult beverages off of the bar. There were only 2 people working it and way too many people around to notice what was being taken.

My spouse and 1 year old child satyed at Club Med Sandpiper Bay for 5 nights over Christmas 2016. We chose this resort for our first family vacation due to the advertised convenience of traveling with small children and not having to bring supplies along. However, there were many problems and misleading advertising. It is advertised that fresh baby food is prepared at the resort. However, it is only at lunch time. For the other meals, they bring you Gerber. It is advertised that they supply you with a crib and baby bath. We were provided with a worn out pack and play that was horribly uncomfortable and saggy and a bath with the plug missing so it couldnt fill with water. It is advertised in the room that a high chair is available upon request, but only in the dining room not in your room. The only full meal option is the buffet as you cant bring children to the sit down restaurant for dinner. However, the sit down is not open for breakfast or lunch. So, if you are looking to spend time with your children and not drop them off all day you have limited options. Our room was not cleanly and had issues with several power outlets and the toilet. Two to three requests were made to have it taken care of and they never were. The main staff was friendly, butnthe wait staff was rude and dismissive. There is limited information provided leading up to the trip and onsite. We werent provided instructions for the tranfers or for special events onsite. Not a great experience overall, especually for the money.
