I hired Clyde Beard for contractor repairs to be made on my house. The job was never finished and my house has been sitting untouched for a month. He doesn't answer my calls and has been paid in full.Jobs not finished: painting inside the house, utility room vented door replacement, full view storm door replacement, chimney cap applied to chimney, weather stripping and thresholds for doors, all doors keyed to the same key, front door adjustment to prevent dragging, dining area hard wood floor replacement, kitchen flooring replacement, gutters put back up, outside front spigot leak needs fixed, ceilings contractor damaged still need repaired, garbage disposal needs installed, living room light switch needs replaced.Desired SettlementI would like for Clyde Beard to finish the job he said he would do. This includes all the items listed in the complaint. I don't think the man is capable of telling the truth. His characterization of my house as being a "rental property" "older home" "poor condition of the house"...the house was built in 1992, it was my home for 14 years and when I moved out my grown son remained living there. The job was supposed to take two weeks. My son and his friend decided they would remain while the work was being done.As far as the clutter is concerned, my son and his friend were still living in the house. It was their intention to stay until the house sold because it was supposed to take two weeks to finish the repairs. The contractor asked me to have them move everything away from the walls. They didn't have time to get out anyway because he started work the next day. The closets were emptied the very afternoon he mentioned it to me. All I asked him to do in the house was to paint the interior walls, repair or replace the hardwood floor and to replace the kitchen flooring. Replace a garbage disposal, change the locks to exterior doors, refinish or replace a tub and to Kilz a condensation stain near an A/C vent in the ceiling, and repair a crack in the popcorn ceiling about the size of a half dollar. At no point did I ever tell him to put linoleum over my hardwood. He put linoleum that felt like a plastic table cloth over both the hardwood floor and the kitchen floor. The kind that has to be held down by strips. Never was I shown a sample or asked to show him what I wanted. None of the items he mentioned was added on. I walked him around my house outside and inside showing him specifically the things I was asking him to repair. He NEVER WROTE ANYTHING DOWN.The popcorn ceilings had to be repaired because he decided to paint them with a roller. The paint ruined my ceilings. He repaired most, but the hallway he didn't. He said it was the manufacturer's fault...funny the popcorn ceilings had been there just fine since the building of the house. He claims he painted every room. I have pictures of a room that still has the wallpaper border that was there when I bought the house 17 years ago. He also painted OVER a wallpaper border in the laundry area.The gutters I asked him to install around the bay window, he totally destroyed as he put them up. It looks like a 7 year old did it. Yes, it leaks! I have pictures of that, too.One of the areas of the siding I asked him to repair he completely ignored.Laundry room folding door needed a peg replaced to put it back on track. Instead of putting in the peg he drove a screw in. The more I look the more I find. The utility room door needed a vent because of a gas hot water heater. He put an indoor A/C vent over the hole he cut. I have attached photos. I asked him to replace a storm door over a full view door going out to the patio. He put an ordinary storm door that is solid from midway down. Now, when you look out the glass door instead of looking onto the patio you see a storm door. Hahaha He is a joke and not a professional by any standard. I attached photos of his paint job. You can see the quality for yourself. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I have attached the contract. Custom Solutions LLC is not listed in the registry. You will see that the contract is very vague. He didn't list each item, etc. I had reservations from the beginning but he was very highly recommended by a dear friend who knows him well and I knew that friend wouldn't let him take advantage of me. I was wrong.He has yet to give me a receipt for the $10,000 I gave him. I have asked several times. I have cancelled checks. He refuses to show me the receipts for supplies he bought to make the repairs. I am sure he is too embarrassed to show them. He bullied me into giving him his money early every step of the way. He even told me if I didn't give him $1,000 of the final payment early that he wouldn't come back the next day. I am sure he thought he could take advantage of me because I am a single woman.It's funny that he claims that all those items were added on. I wonder what he thought I was paying him to do?Wood around the bay window was shown to him before we even talked money., Chimney was discussed prior to contract, rotten wood behind the gutters was pointed out to him, I asked him to tear down the 4' by 6' three wall shed. kitchen flooring was to be replaced but specifics were never talked about, popcorn ceilings were damaged by the contractor. He was mad that I tried to force him to come back and finish the job so he dug gouges into the hardwood floor I had someone else repair since this contractor decided not to do it. He also tore up a huge section of the old linoleum that was there before. I believe these actions are criminal.He left two garbage cans filled with his construction waste.So, NO, I do not accept his response.
