On October 27th, 2015 I took my [redacted] to fuquay varina, nc for a leaking anti-freeze issue and we were told that replacing the oil pan set, timing cover gasket set and R&R timing chain cover gasket that my leaking anti freeze issued would be resolved...We agreed to pay $604.50 to get this repaired and when I picked up the car the first issue was that now my radio does not work in my vehicle but it was working before, we picked up the car on monday evening and I drove to work on tuesday only approx 7 miles from my home and when I went to lunch and came back from lunch my car started to smoke out of the hood and I got out of the vehicle only to look at the ground and see antifreeze again pouring on the ground so I had to call a towing company to come tow my car back to [redacted] in fuquay varina where we were told that it was now a thermostat issue that would fix the problem so they fixed that and then after they put the thermostat on they called my husband [redacted] to tell him it was not the thermostat, now the problem was the fan motors were not coming on and we needed to take our vehicle to another shop to get it fixed because they weren't sure if it was a computer issue, we picked the car back up and now the car is STILL over heating and leaking anti freeze so I spent $604.50 for nothing to be repaired, I went back last week to get them to look at my radio only to be told "they didn't know what was wrong" but it worked BEFORE I took it in for repairOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementI need a full refund of $604.50 as my car is still not repaired for it not to overheat, I feel very unsafe driving my vehicle due to over heating issues that I thought were repairedBusiness Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] OwnerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]I had an opportunity to talk with [redacted], the technician who worked on Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] vehicle, as well as [redacted], my manager who was involved in the sales process. As Mrs. [redacted] mentioned in her complaint, they did bring their vehicle in for a leaking anti-freeze issue. Prior to bringing the vehicle in for service, Mr. [redacted] called our center and asked how much it would cost to replace the timing cover gasket. We informed him then, that labor would require us to replace both the timing cover gasket as well as the oil pan gasket and the cost would be $604.50. He agreed and they brought the vehicle in for service. Again, the vehicle was brought in for a leak and we were not asked to diagnose any other problem. Mr. [redacted] called and asked for the price of the gasket because he either noticed the leak himself or a different shop checked it. After we performed the service we tested the vehicle to make sure the leak was fixed and had the customer pick the vehicle up. When the vehicle came back the following week, it was then that we were told there was an overheating problem. We did at that time diagnose a thermostat that was stuck open and recommended replacing that. The customer agreed and we replaced the thermostat. After performing this service, we tested the vehicle, this time to make sure it would not overheat. While we were testing we realized the cooling fans were not coming on, which would cause the vehicle to overheat. We checked the fans directly with 12 volts and the fans do operate. We concluded that there was a problem either with the computer or the wiring and because we do not have the correct equipment, it would be best for the vehicle to go to the ** dealership. Because the thermostat did not fix the overheating problem, we did not charge any fees for parts or labor for that service. As for the radio problem, Most ** vehicles this year model have Theftlock radios in them to render them useless in cases where they are stolen. While we were doing the timing cover gasket service we needed to disconnect the battery which prompted the radio to become disabled. The dealership should be able to use the VIN number and their database to recover the correct code and unlock the radio. All the websites I have check mention that the dealership does not charge to do this and ** has a automated phone line were vehicle owners can give VIN information and retrieve this information as well. I would be glad to help in that process or reimburse Mrs. [redacted] if the dealership has a fee to unlock the radio. I realize the situation Mrs. [redacted] vehicle is unfortunate, but we did correct the problem with the leaking gasket and when we could not correct the problem with the overheating we did not charge for that service. If I can help at all recovering the radio please have Mrs. [redacted] reach us at the center. Hope this helps.
