has not finished the job he was paid to complete. Twice he has text message me saying he was coming to finish the work yet he has not shown up. He failed to install the second toilet but told me it was installed. When I went to verify the toilet wasn't installed. I had to pay someone to install the toilet. He cut out a square of sheetrock in order to repair a leak that occurred when he installed the first toilet. He did not patch the hole as promised. He then text me he would refund me some money yet I'm still waiting. This work was done in May 2019, and I had to get a new front door installed. Once I had that done *** said he would come back and finish. He has text twice, scheduled, but didn't show.
Product_Or_Service: Flooring installation

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Refund of $500.00

CMH Flooring Response • Feb 18, 2020

This installation was done in May 2019. This is an older condo and the pipes were fragile and there was a leak when trying to turn the valve on. The toilet was reset. A hole was cut in the sheetrock as we did make the repair to the pipe as to not flood the condo or the surrounding condos. The communication at that time to the customer was that we would not be able to install the second toilet for fear this would happen again. It was also discussed that we are flooring installers and do not do sheetrock, so a sheetrock person would need to repair the hole. There was never a promise of a refund as this was something that was not something we did on purpose. The 15 sf of flooring that was not installed on the original install date was due to the fact that the flooring we installed was being installed over the existing tile flooring as the customer wished to do to save the rip up fee. There was no clearance for the door to open as a result and the customer said he would contact us when he replaced the door so we could return to put the last bit of flooring in. We did not hear from the customer from May to now and he texted and asked us to come finish the floor. An appointment was agreed upon but our installer had an emergency and could not make the hour drive out to complete the work that day. There was another text from the customer that was missed and now this is the next communication we have received on this or from the customer. We have attempted to contact him everyday since this complaint came over so we can set the appointment to install the last of the floor but the customer has not responded. We are more than happy to complete the flooring but will need confirmation that someone will be there as this project is not in our area and is an hour away. We understand from this complaint that the customer is looking for $500. He was charged $65 to remove the toilet that was not reinstalled of which we'd be happy to refund. If he does not want us to complete the flooring and he has someone else install, this will void our warranty as we will not be able to guarantee the work someone else does that ties directly to our installation. The 15 sf of labor at $1.85 per ft. is $27.75 of which we would be happy to refund if he chooses not to have us back out. The age and fragility of the pipes is not something we can control and sometimes our customers end up having to get a plumber to reset toilets if an issue arrises. We would agree to refund $50 for the patch to the drywall if needed. This was something that could not be avoided in order to not flood the condo. Again, something beyond our control but we took care of the pipe repair with no additional charge to the customer. Please let us know if you need any further information.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
May 28 12:09 PM, Mr. texted me the following "Everything installed. No leaks. *** is pulling the float now next to the refrigerator. Install will be complete today. Do you want to put the balance on the card to use before or do you want to use a different card?" I responded May 28 to use the card as before.
No mention that the second toilet wasn't installed, flooring wasn't completed, and sheetrock not patched. June 2 5:20 PM I sent text message to Mr. " I had to install the toilet family coming in.. Can you patch the sheetrock. Also, I'm missing a hammer and tape measure can you ask your worker if he might have it? He also left a mess in the kitchen I cleaned up."
June 2 8:51 PM Mr. responded "I'm so sorry that didn't get installed. I'll make sure you get refunded for that amount. I will be down this week to install the sheetrock patches."
June 8 4:01 PM arrived to patch the two sheet rock areas. Only patched one.
January 22 3:05 PM I sent text to Mr. *** this is *** at *** Finally got my front door installed. When could you come finish the floor? Thanks"
January 23 10:46 PM Mr. respondes "I'll call you tomorrow to schedule. He did not call. January 27 3:26 PM I sent text message to Mr. "Don't forget about me, Please." January 28 7:44 AM Mr. responded " I can get you in schedule for next week if that works for you."
I reponded January 28 "Works for me, I have a lock box on door with key, I'll send you the gate code and lock box code. Sound good?"
Mr. responded "Yes sir."
February 6 4:25 PM I sent text message to Mr. "you coming tomorrow?" no response so February 6 6:09 PM I sent another test "Are you coming to finish tomorrow?"
Mr. responded "Hi Mr ***. I don't have anyone available tomorrow but I can have *** out there next Tuesday if you can forward me the lockbox code. I'll send pics when it's done."
I responded back with the gate code and lockbox code. February 7 9:15 AM Mr. responded "Got it. Thank you."
Wednesday February 12 1:43 PM I sent text message to Mr. "Did *** finish the flooring?" When I did not get a response I filled my complaint.
February 17 1:43 PM Mr. finally responded back.
I will gladly allow Mr. to complete the flooring. I just need him to come when he schedules it to be done. The price to install both toilets was included in the total job price. Mr. personally conducted the measurements and inspection and provided a quote. He should have figured out that the front door was too low in order to install flooring over existing floor. I will again try to coordinate with Mr. to have the remaining floor installed.

CMH Flooring Response • Mar 02, 2020

It appears from the customer's response that he'd like to have the floor completed and states that he will reach out to schedule. We will wait for his communication to get the work scheduled.
