Professional, knowledgeable, fast service. Arrived on time to assess chimney problems and make an appointment for repair. Explained work to be done and costs. Arrived on time for repairs: Installed aluminum liner for furnace and hot water heater. Installed new flue tiles, crown and cap. Tuckpointed basement fireplace. Good communication throughout, explained what they were doing, took cellphone photos on roof to bring down and share with homeowner. Charges were as estimate indicated. This work was done on 8/20/13. I am going to use them again this year for another fireplace issue.

Review: I CONTACTED CMZ CHIMNEY, LLC TO COME AND GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIRS TO MY CHIMNEY DUE TO A TREE FALLING AND KNOCKING OFF THE TOP HALF OF THE BRICK. THEY CAME OUT AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO TEAR DOWN 7 COURSES OF BRICK AND REBUILD 7 COURSES. THE OWNER ALSO TOLD ME WHEN HE CAME OUT THAT HE HAD THE EXACT COLOR BRICK AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OLD AND THE NEW. AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED I WAS VERY UPSET THAT THE NEW PORTION OF THE CHIMNEY STUCK OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB. THE SPACING BETWEEN THE NEW BRICKS HE LAYED WAS ALSO QUITE LARGER THEN WHAT THE ORIGINAL LOOKS LIKE. HE SAID THAT WAS DUE TO THE BRICKS BEING 1/2" SMALLER. I FEEL HE SHOULD OF INFORMED ME OF THIS AND ASKED HOW I WOULD LIKE TO HANDLE THIS. I WOULD OF LIKED HIM TO MAKE THE MORTAR SPACING THE SAME AND JUST CUT THE ONE BRICK TO FIT IN THE SPACE INSTEAD OF HAVING THESE HUGE SLOPPY MORTAR JOINTS...NOT TO MENTION THE MORTAR HE USED IS SO LIGHT COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL MORTAR. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IT WOULD MATCH ALSO FROM WHAT HE WAS SAYING AS HE WAS GIVING ME THE QUOTE. ONE LAST THING WAS THERE ARE ONLY 5 COURSES THAT HE BUILT INSTEAD OF THE 7 LISTED ON THE ESTIMATE...WOULD THAT NOT CHANGE THE PRICE OF THE ESTIMATE AND MAKE THE JOB CHEAPER? I FEEL LIKE I GOT RIPPED OFF AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. WHEN CALLING HIM HE KEPT GIVING ME EXCUSES LEFT AND RIGHT OF WHY IT LOOKS LIKE IT DOES. DO NOT PROMISE ME ONE THING AND DELIVER SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION WHEN HE RAN INTO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRICK SIZE AND I FEEL HE SHOULD OF LET ME KNOW BEFORE CONTINUING. I WAS PROMISED ONE THING AND GOT SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I CALLED HIM TO TRY AND HAVE THIS RESOLVED BUT I DIDNT GET ANYWHERE WHICH IS WHY I AM FILLING OUT THIS COMPLAINT.Desired Settlement: 1. I WOULD LIKE CMZ CHIMNEY, LLC TO COME OUT AND REBUILD THE CHIMNEY TO LOOK LIKE THE OLD PORTION LIKE HE PROMISED IT WOULD LOOK LIKE. (WETHER HE NEEDS TO STAIN THE BRICK OR USE DARKER MORTAR)2. I WOULD LIKE REFUNDED FOR THE 2 COURSES OF BRICK THAT HE DID NOT LAY AND I WAS CHARGED FOR IN THE ESTIMATE. 3. IF THEY CANNOT DO THE REBUILD AND FIX THE PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY REFUNDED SO I CAN HIRE A COMPANY WHO CAN FIX THEIR WORK FOR THEM.
