Billed me for work not performed Charged fees when they called me to stay with firm and convince me to stay Charged for every email and call Had to follow up because they never responded to me or communicated and they still charged Never provided all paperwork or informed me of status Calls or emails were to get status they didn't provide They barely occomplished anything and charged over $ I emailed and called the office manager over billing disputes and never got a response Then I switched attorneys because they didn't communicate and wanted to switch to an attorney in my County They went to transfer my case from McHenry County to Dupage County It was in the process of transferring and they cancelled the transfer and delayed my case This is highway robbery

"Attorney Gordon *** represented me in my divorce and I can honestly say that I could not have chosen a better attorneyPrior to contacting Mr***, I had consultations with other attorneys and either the cost was too high, I did not feel comfortable or they were simply more concerned with receiving an upfront consultation fee than my needsI contacted Mr*** by phone and he had the divorce process going that same dayI was relieved to finally find someone that was empathetic to my situation and committed to handling my case in a timely mannerHe was quite thorough in following all necessary steps to ensure that we would not run into problems throughout the processI would definitely recommend him for representation."

"Thank you very much for helping me with my case and offering a very personal customer experience."

"Firm was great! Any time I had questions, it was answeredI first started my case online and everything was great, but I still had a few questions regarding the process of my divorceWhen I called the office and explained my situation, the firm went over all the steps of what I will be expecting while going through my divorceAttorney Shay *** helped me out a lotShe was very knowledgeable and I was very satisfied in the communication between her and me Overall, it was great service!"

"After talking with many firms I hired Gordon *** from CN Law P.Cto represent me in my divorce proceedings From the initial consultation to the day our divorce was final I knew I was in good hands Gordon took the time to walk me through the process, respond to my endless questions and set realistic expectations Things could have easily spiraled out of control with my case a number of different times but Gordon kept things (including me) calm and on a positive track forward My divorce wasn't simple, we lived in separate states, we have young children, we lived in three states in months and much more I easily could have been taken advantage of due to many of these circumstances Gordon put his knowledge and talent to use to ensure I was properly represented and taken care of I do not believe if I hired another firm or attorney it would have been this way Needless to say, I would recommend their services and Gordon's to anyone looking for an attorney."

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/12/29) */
Contact Name and Title: [redacted]-Principal
Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXX
Contact Email: [redacted]@illinoisdivorce.com
Ms. [redacted] retained our office on April 25, 2014. She has paid total fees to our office of $4,500.00. Work was done on...

her case and she was billed accordingly per her signed retainer agreement for the work done. Through December, 2014, she has a current unpaid balance of $1,633.39. That last payment Ms. [redacted] made to our office was on June 12, 2014.
I attempted on multiple occasions to contact Ms. [redacted] in an attempt to resolve her outstanding balance. Those calls went unanswered. Because I was not able to reach her, I filed a Motion to Withdraw our representation on November 24, 2014 which was set to be presented on December 8, 2014. On December 5, 2014 I finally got a hold of Ms. [redacted] and she advised that she had recently been in the hospital and was not able to return my calls. She advised that she needed some time to pay back her bill. Since the case was near finalization, I agreed and advised that instead of asking the Court to allow us to withdraw on December 8, I would instead continue my motion to give Ms. [redacted] an opportunity to pay down the balance.
On December 8, I appeared before [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] also appeared. Contrary to our discussion and what I believed was our understanding based on our December 5 phone call, Ms. [redacted] instead made numerous false and misleading statements before the Court. Instead of continuing my Motion to Withdraw, I then asked to be allowed to withdraw my representation. The Judgea substitute Judge sitting in for our regular judgeset my motion for a hearing. Prior to the hearing, Ms. [redacted] retained substitute counsel.
There was nothing improper or unethical done in Ms. [redacted] case. She simply does not want to pay for the work that was done on her behalf. I stand by all work done in her case.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2014/12/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I retained [redacted] on April 25th 2014 and without my knowledge attorneys for the office was substituted. I discuss with him the price for handling my divorce with a set price there wasn't much work to do and bills that were sent to me were unfounded, because everything I asked for was given to them in the beginning of the case I never agreed to pay more fees and I was told not to come to court that I wasn't needed on numerous occasions and they file continuances and continue to charge me for continuous is there were not needed the judgment should have been drawn up well before October because I gave them the paperwork before my last payment was made and I was unaware that I would have a substitute lawyer within the office and any time I wasn't notified then I had to pay more money than I had agreed to in the beginning
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 17, 2015/01/13) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I hired [redacted] to take care of the paperwork. All of the filing I had already done and I had wrote and filed judgment papers there was no reason to continue the case and file and charge me more money.I wasn't asked if I wanted a substitution lawyer, I was just givin a substitution. [redacted] did absolutely nothing on the case but file continues. He told me he wanted to withdraw from the case, after attempting to contact me twice with no messages left. There were no communication problems with the case between me and the lawyer everything that I needed I gave to [redacted] in the beginning there was no need for continues and status updates or anything it was cut and dry Mr [redacted] Was willing to sign papers early on and I kept getting court dates and charges for
Continues for the simple fact that he was too lazy to draw up the judgement papers they should have been drawn up a long time ago there was no need for continued Court dates so I feel that I was billed unfairly and that I should be given a refund because he did not complete my case as stated in our conversation
Final Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2015/01/13) */
Ms. [redacted] is correct that she retained the offices of CN Law, P.C. on April 25th. [redacted] was the attorney who retained her. As is customary in the legal world, Ms. [redacted] case was given to [redacted] an associate with our firm. [redacted] handled the case until August 25, 2014 when she left for maternity leave. I note that Ms. [redacted] makes no specific complaint regarding [redacted] handling of her case.
After [redacted] left for maternity leave, the matter was handled by myself and our associate [redacted] through the hiring of Ms. [redacted] substitute counsel. I again note that she makes no specific complaint as to the work that was done on her behalf. She does not claim that she was billed for work that was not done.
She is correct that due to her communication issues, additional court dates that may have been avoided if she communicated better were required. She is also correct that she was billed for all the work done on her case in accordance with the terms of her retainer agreement. Ms. [redacted] is mistaken that there was a "set price" for work done on her case(or "Flat Fee/Rate" as it is commonly referred). Again, Ms. [redacted] simply does not want to pay for work that was done for her benefit and on her behalf.

Billed me for work not performed. Charged fees when they called me to stay with firm and convince me to stay. Charged for every email and call. Had to follow up because they never responded to me or communicated and they still charged. Never provided all paperwork or informed me of status. Calls or emails were to get status they didn't provide. They barely occomplished anything and charged over $1500. I emailed and called the office manager over billing disputes and never got a response. Then I switched attorneys because they didn't communicate and wanted to switch to an attorney in my County. They went to transfer my case from McHenry County to Dupage County. It was in the process of transferring and they cancelled the transfer and delayed my case. This is highway robbery.

"Just to respond in reference to Mr [redacted]'s services, he was very pleasing. He took my case right away after having a horrible experience with a previous lawyer. He sat me down went over all my possibilities and my potential routes to complete my dissolution. He was very knowledgeable of what options and the outcomes of them. He kept me in the loop of all activities related to my case. He made assure I was aware of all financial transactions and reassured me those were in my judgment call. Not only did he resolve my dissolution in a reasonable time, he kept his word and made sure it was not prolonging and carried on unnecessarily. If I could recommend him for further potential clients I would choose him hands down with a doubt!! I hope that he knows that he was a great deal of help to my life and family."
