This is a small mom & pop type of home improvement gig. Two men does the work and one guy in office handles paper work. So, with that, read the rest of this review and understand the level of sophistication and workmanship. The owner of business along with one helper does the work.
I wanted order 23 large quantity of windows, but was skeptical of the installations qualifications although they were referred by my wife's acquaintances. So one window (rather large 42"x 76") was order and installed in late June. My windows were not the REPLACEMENT kind of windows, rather a NEW construction windows as my house is only 15 years old. The old frame had to be removed before a new window could be installed, meaning peeling off the vinyl siding to get to the old window fins and removing them.
Starting with hap-hazardous removal and total disregard to their safety, not to mention total disregard to the homeowner's property, these guys attacked the old window leaving sharp nails and sidings everywhere. After I complained, the helper guy grumbled and grumbled, then pretend to clean up while giving me the nasty look.
Anyway, the new window was installed after the old one including the old frame was removed to the house wood-frame. Well, during the install, I politely asked them to follow the manufacturer's installation procedures, including the application of weather sealants around the fins before the fins get nailed to the house-frame. Of course I asked them to make sure that the new window frame is square, plumb and leveled.
The owner complained that he never had to do what I requested and has never gotten complaints from previous jobs. Well, I said maybe the homeowners of his "many" previous jobs were not as "educated consumer" as I am and I wanted to make sure the work is installed in accordance with the manufacturers installation procedures.
Despite my 2-cents during install, they never did what I requested. So when the window was completed, they discover the upper and lower sashes did not align and tight to pull it open. I said I am not happy with the work and will not pay for the work. As it was getting dark, they left saying they will come back.
Well, 3 weeks later, they came back with new sashes (I did not say this earlier, but the embedded grids had incorrect 'panels'; it should had 12 light panels as opposed to 6 light panels). I requested the entire frame be re-installed before I pay him in full. Again, the owner of the CNK Flooring complained and complained. He blamed on the manufacturer and any defect would be covered by the manufacturer. I said non-sense, since it was a installation fault.
To wrap this long story up, he removed the window-frame and sealed the fins as I had originally requested and nailed all nailing holes while I watched. The helper guy, if I did not watch, would try to evade sealing and nailing. And he does a horrendous re-install if the vinyl siding. You need to constantly watch him and point out where to go over and re-do the re-install.
A re-installed window frame and new sashes still did not meet my satisfaction, but it was better than before, so paid them. But a few word of caution is warranted here. Unless you are knowledgeable in replacement windows and proper procedures, I'd NOT hire these people for your windows. They say they will come back and make good on their install, but what good is it if you sustained water damage as a result of their screwed up install. Plus don't get caught on their bait that the manufacturer warranty would cover the work. If the work is NOT installed per the manufacturer's procedure, you will NOT be covered.
One side comment: These guys has no respect for your property. They do not wear show-booties or put a protective cover over your flooring. The helper guy even used my slop sink to 'wash" his hands but ruined my tower with his greasy hands. I am so furious... The customer services is a FOREIGN words to them and they seemed to take NO PRIDE in their workmanship. They may advertise low low prices, but you'd be better off if you use "THREE STOOGES" for your windows replacement.
Cannot say enough about this company. I'd stay FAR FAR FAR away...
