I am just off phone with *** ***I explained that residency at Ridgewood, like any other tenancy in Nova Scotia, is governed by the Tenancy
Act of Nova ScotiaRegardless of when tenancy started and if the was a written or verbal lease, all tenancy in Nova Scotia requires days notice to quit the lease, regardless of the reasons (death or moving somewhere else)This means, if notice to quit lease was provided on June 25, the landlord legally cant rent the space until Aug 1st and the tenant is responsible to pay rent until that time periodThis is law in Nova ScotiaRidgewood recognizes the hardship/burden of families when notice to quit is due to death and we offer a rebate for the days post days (example: If notice was given June 25, then family would be eligible for rebate from July to Aug - this is outlined and explained in rental agreements)
I then explained, as per the ***% of monthly rent being apportioned to personal care, etc, this is a separate federal law enacted and enforces by Canada Revenue AgencyThe purpose of this legislation is to provide resident's and/or their families with a tax credit equal to the ***%This is Canadian Tax Law not residency law in Nova ScotiaAs far as the Residential Tenancy Act is concerned, rent is $*** per month and governed by the terms of days legal notice to quit
Ms *** was very appreciative of call and explanationHer uncle became a resident of Ridgewood around I purchased Ridgewood in Management practice in did not provide a rental agreementRidgewood has very detailed rental agreement since I became involvedThe above terms are clearly outlines and explained

On a different note - Ridgewood became a member of Revdex.com after I bought it in I have always appreciated Revdex.com, even through all the recent changes regarding advertising, social media, etcOf note, Ms *** did not reach out to me or Business Manager, *** *** to discuss her concernsThis matter would have been quickly and immediately resolved in similar manner if she hadI have facilitated a lot of dispute resolution in very complex healthcare settings with multiple stakeholders dealing with life and death situationsThe first question I always ask (and this is basic dispute resolution theory/technique), what conversations have you had with *** and *** already about this issue? Another way of asking this is, what have you done so far to resolve this issue?
I want to suggest, these would be very good questions for Revdex.com to ask anyone contacting Revdex.com about a potential complaintIt is a huge time saver and places accountability for resolution on the key stakeholders, not an arms length organization with little to no knowledge or experience of the industry and/or issuesI would be more than happy to discuss further

I have received a call from *** *** from Ridgewood and he has agreed to refund the family the *** percent ( for personal care) of the extra month's rent that we paid for my uncle who passed away on June of this year
They will issue a cheque to me and then the matter will be satisfactorily concluded
I am very happy with the speed and manner that Revdex.com has dealt with this issue
