I am replying to your letter of Sept 11, We contacted MTD which is the company that is responsible for the warranty on the Rototiller Mr*** *** ownsWhen we called MTD they already had been contacted by Mr*** about the issue
with his equipment, They're case number is XXXXXX-XXXXXXThey told my shop person that from the information Mr*** gave them they won't cover the claim under warrantyIf you would like to call MID at I am sure they can help you with more details from their conversation with Mr, ***From my side I told Mr*** that I would refund his money on the carburetor he bought from Coast HardwareWhere this thing all went wrong is that the tiller was under warranty and he should have brought the equipment in to my repair shop where we are a certified warranty repair centerWhen the unit did come in, the carburetor Mr, *** bought and installed from Coast, that my shop person recommended he not take, was put on wrongAfter my shop person put it on the correct way it still didn't work so we ordered the factory carburetor and installed it which works fineI get the feeling from my conversations with and the notes from MTD, Mr*** thought he had old gas in his tiller and he tried to clean it out himselfNo manufacture of small equipment covers old gas under warrantyOld gas is a major issue that we see in most of the repairs we do in our repair shopThere are a number of fuel additives to help keep this from happeningWe tell all of our customers to be picky about where they buy their fuel from, and buy or better Octane, and Keep it fresh, no more than days
